Accounting Assistant
Reports to: Business Operations Manager
Performance Location: The individual filling this position will be supporting PAE on a contract for the US Department of State and working at the US Embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan. Periodic travel with extended overnight stays may be required while working on projects and other locations in Afghanistan. Percentage of travel will vary significantly but on average is expected to be less than 10% of the total time
Working Environment: The candidate will work on construction and maintenance sites including exposure to the dangers inherent with such sites
Work Schedule: This position works ten hours/day six days a week minimum, is on-call 24/7 and must be willing to quickly respond to all critical electrical issues as required.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide a full range of general accounting support services for the Finance Manager. Some of the key responsibilities include:
- Perform full cycle accounting responsibilities including time and expense, payroll, invoicing, and general ledger (G/L) entries for cost accruals, intercompany transactions, petty cash transaction entries, G/L account reconciliations, etc. prior to finalization of the accounting cycle;
- Monitors AP transactions and coordinates with corporate AP group regularly to ensure accruals, AP activities and related accounting issues are accurate and current.
- Responsible for the proper coding of purchase request, purchase orders, expense reports, timesheets, purchase card reconciliations, etc.
Minimum Acceptable Experience and Qualification Levels:
The Accountant shall have the following experience for this position:
- Demonstrate experience in accounting activities; budget, revenue, expenses, cost analyses, financial reports, month-end close processes etc.
- Tax and audit experience preferred.
- CPA is not required but preferred.
- Experience working with Accounting Software applications, preferably Microsoft (Solomon) Dynamics, Deltek CostPoint Financial Accounting applications
- Strong Excel skills, proficient with Word and Power Point.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Strong communication & excellent interpersonal skills.
- Self-starter, able to work independently
Quick learner.
Education:Bachelor Degree in Accounting or related field with a minimum of five years accounting experience, financial management, audit or similar responsibilities is required.
Language Requirement:Must be fluent in speaking, reading and writing English.
Citizenship:US Citizenship is not required for this position.
Clearance:Must have a MRPT Clearance or the ability to obtain one.
