Job Description Under general supervision, responsible for coordinating activities of a team of workers operating water purification equipment which provides potable and non-potable water for human consumption and industrial use. Responsible for adhering to established company safety standards and conducts training for new personnel. Controls pumps and water valves into treating plant to maintain production levels. Administers chemicals into untreated water to disinfect, sterilize, deodorize, and clarify water. Regulates water through filter beds to remove contaminants. Cleans water tanks and filter beds. Performs regular maintenance on equipment and tests samples. Maintains records at facilities.
May supervise a team of subcontractor and/or labor broker personnel, in accordance with the “General Supervisory Duties and Responsibilities” addendum.

Position may be located in a war zone in a contingency environment with harsh and dangerous working and living conditions, including lifting and carrying 40 pounds of personal protective equipment for extended periods of time. To ensure safety, health, and security measures within the contract are met, all employees shall be literate in English (read, write, speak and understand).
Living conditions on the project are most likely austere. The most austere sleeping may be in environmentally conditioned tents on “Army type” cots. Restrooms and showers may be 250 feet or further from sleeping quarters. Laundry service for 15 pounds twice per week is commonly provided. Meals are provided at regular intervals in cafeteria or “dining facility” style environment. Living area will most likely have constant hum of generators or similar equipment nearby.

Basic Job Requirements One year directly related experience is required. High school diploma/GED equivalent is preferred. Certification as a water purification specialist required.
Other Job Requirements Experience in water purification or a related trade such as plumbing or electrical. Preferred candidates have US military experience as a Water Purification Specialists. Follow instructions and meet set standards; Judge distances and slopes accurately; and make decisions based on verifiable standards. Physically, workers must be able to: Stoop, bend, and crouch; Use hands, arms, and legs fully; See well (either naturally or with correction); and lift up to 50 pounds, with frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications Prior Military and/or Contingency Operations experience preferred.
