(AFG) Engineer - Field 2 (Avionics Technician)- GO CO OCONUS
Performs aircraft avionics/electronics systems and components, Electro/Environmental, and associated component repair and maintenance. Conducts fault isolation, repairs, removal and replacement of components to resolve avionics or electrical discrepancies. Completes scheduled and unscheduled maintenance of avionics on ISR King Air 350 aircraft. Supports maintenance and repair of Mission Support Equipment as necessary. The avionics technicians report to the Lead Avionics Technician.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Responsible for testing, inspection, repair, and removal and replacement of avionic systems and components on the ISR King Air 350 aircraft.
• Repairs aircraft wiring/wiring harnesses.
• Performs operational checkout of aircraft avionics systems during pre-flight and post-flight as necessary.
• Responds to flight/maintenance crew reported discrepancies by troubleshooting and repairing any systems to make aircraft ready for flight for quick turn-around.
• Assists in launch, recovery, servicing, and ground handling of aircraft.
• Performs scheduled/unscheduled inspections as required in accordance with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) procedures.
• Prepares and maintains aircraft maintenance records and historical documents.
• Accomplishes maintenance manpower and aircraft maintenance actions using the program maintenance database system.
• Reviews and utilizes maintenance data collection reports.
• Monitors/reviews deficiency reports for adverse trends.
• Uses applicable technical orders/manuals when performing maintenance, and to troubleshoot aircraft/systems discrepancies.
• Performs in-progress and follow-up inspections during and upon completion of maintenance actions.
• Researches, orders and receives aircraft parts or components necessary to make repairs.
• Prepares parts for turn-in back into the supply system. Initiates material deficiency reports as required.
• Inventories aircraft support equipment.
• Maintains tools, hand and special, in a safe and serviceable condition.
• Responsible for site, customer, and company tool accountability procedures to include reporting unserviceable tools and equipment to the appropriate responsible party.
• Annotates equipment/tools inspection and condition documents.
• Performs serviceability checks prior to operating powered and non-powered support equipment.
• Complies with established policies, procedures and standards.
• Assists other mechanics/technicians as required.
• Complies with all safety, environmental, security and housekeeping standards.
• Complies with established training requirements.
• Assists in training newly assigned personnel as required.
• Operates vehicles, both special purpose and regular as authorized.
• Practices good housekeeping, tool control, FOD awareness/prevention and safety at all times.
• Maintains infrared detecting system, airborne video, laser system and night vision system.
• Performs battery maintenance
• May provide on-the-job training of new employees.
• Assists assigned personnel in researching and requisitioning aircraft parts and components and in determining the reparability and serviceability of these assets.
• Monitors bench stock items and tool inventory inspections.
• Participates in work area safety and FOD prevention programs.
• Actively participates in the Safety Program.
• Refers to hazardous material training and ensures HAZMAT processes are followed.
• Assists in aircraft movement and flight line FOD prevention walks as required.
• Completes maintenance documentation using required forms.
• Assists in performing aircraft preflight and basic post-flight inspections.
• Operates GSE, flight line vehicles and other support equipment as authorized and required.
• Maintain strict compliance with all required Communications Security (COMSEC) policies and procedures.

• Must have a minimum of five (5) years recent hands-on avionics maintenance experience and a current FAA A&P Certificate is desired.
• Completion of a military or civilian aviation avionics technical school or possess an FCC License with endorsements is preferred.
• Recent work experience on Beech King Air 350, C-12 or model 1900 avionics maintenance experience is preferred and desired.
• Experience on maintaining Proline 21 systems preferred.
• Experience in repair and maintenance of radar, communications, nav-aids, lighting and instrumentation.
• Support repair and maintenance of Mission Support ISR equipment as required.
• Must have a positive attitude, be a self-starter, work well with others.
• Must be able to work shifts as assigned and travel as part of a maintenance recovery team as required. CONUS and OCONUS deployment may be required.
• Must be in good physical condition, and capable of completing/passing a required physical exam and CRC course prior to OCONUS deployment.
• Must be able to work in the established work/living environment, work shift schedules as assigned 7 days a week, 12 hours a day to support mission requirements
• Experience in the use of common hand and special tools/testers as required to perform avionics maintenance tasks.
• Must have in-depth working knowledge of aircraft safety directives.
• Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
• Must have a current civilian driver’s license, and be able to obtain and maintain a government flight line driver’s license.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain an interim DoD secret government security clearance, as a minimum, prior to hire.
• Must have an in-depth knowledge (aircraft/vehicle movement and safety/hazards) of flight line operations.
• Must have an in-depth knowledge of using aircraft technical publications—read, interpret, follow and basic comprehension of schematic diagrams, drawings, and charts.
• Must have a working knowledge (input and extract data) of standard Maintenance Database.
• Must be willing and able to perform in-flight FCF checks.
