Job Description Assists in receipt, storage, issue, maintenance, modification, destruction and demilitarization of explosive items. Performs ammunition supply stock control and accounting duties using both automated and manual procedures and issuing conventional ammunition, guided missiles, large rockets, explosives, and other ammunition and explosive related items; performs maintenance (field and sustainment), modification, destruction and demilitarization on ammunition and explosive components.

Under direct supervision, ensures safe handling of a variety of munitions, explosives, chemical munitions, radioactive materials, and rockets. Works at an Ammunition Supply Point with responsibility for receipt, storage, and issue of basic load ammunition items. Ensures that receipt documentation agrees with actual stock levels. Receives, stores, loads/issues, and records a variety of ammunition. Ensures correct ammunition to include lot number is issued to using units. Locates stock and delivers items to their destination. Uses a computer terminal or other electronic device (e.g., a bar code scanner) to record receipt, location, issue, and inventory information. Operates electric, gasoline, or diesel powered forklift trucks in order to lift loads weighing under 6,000 pounds as high as 168 inches. The forklift is operated to load/unload, transfer, transport, stack/unstack palletized goods, boxes, crates, merchandise, materials, and supplies from one location to another. May drive forklift over wood, concrete, or similar type floors through narrow aisles in ammunition magazines, buildings, warehouse facilities, and occasionally outside over rough surf aces. Follows general safety practices in operating equipment and performs operators maintenance on equipment. Operates Government-owned vehicles (1/4 ton stake bed trucks, pick-up trucks GVW of less than 26,000 lbs) to transport ammunition.

May supervise a team of subcontractors, and/or labor broker personnel, in accordance with the “General Supervisory Duties and Responsibilities” addendum.


This Job Description represents a summary of the generic job duties and qualifications for this position and shall not be construed as a complete listing of all tasks, as other duties may be assigned. Position may be located in a war zone in a contingency environment with harsh and dangerous working and living conditions, including lifting and carrying 40 pounds of personal protective equipment for extended periods of time. To ensure safety, health, and security measures within the contract are met, all employees shall be literate in English (read, write, speak and understand).


Living conditions on the project are most likely austere. The most austere sleeping may be in environmentally conditioned tents on “Army type” cots. Restrooms and showers may be 250 feet or further from sleeping quarters. Laundry service for 15 pounds twice per week is commonly provided. Meals are provided at regular intervals in cafeteria or “dining facility” style environment. Living area will most likely have constant hum of generators or similar equipment nearby.

Basic Job Requirements High school diploma or GED equivalent and 3 years of directly related experience is required.


Other Job Requirements In depth knowledge of hazardous material and hazardous material handling to ensure the safe receipt, placement, storage, and movement of ammunitions, explosives, chemicals, or radioactive materials in accordance with facility and regulatory requirements.


Excellent communication and leadership skills. Basic computer literacy and skills in MS Office Suite required. Valid Class C Commercial driver’s license w/HAZMAT endorsement is required. Ammunition certified FORSCOM Reg 350-10. Must be a licensed forklift operator and have skill in building pallet loads based on the shipping conveyance. Requires demonstrated knowledge and skill with the use of pallet-measuring gauges.


Must be able to perform ammunition supply stock control and accounting duties using both automated and manual procedures. Maintain hardware and software systems and manual records


required to successfully perform stock control and accounting procedures for ammunition and explosives.


Preferred Qualifications Prior Military and/or Contingency Operations experience preferred.


Prior service as a enlisted member with the MOS of (89A) & (89B) is a plus.
