(AFG-KANDAHAR) Emergency Vehicle Tech
Job Summary
The Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT) is responsible for maintenance, repair, and servicing of all fire vehicles and equipment.
Principal Accountabilities
- Responsible for all maintenance, repair, and servicing of assigned fire vehicles and equipment to include structural Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting (ARFF) and ambulance apparatus
- Maintain all equipment and vehicle records to include, but not limited to, various small engines; diagnose and repair problems on fire pumps
- Evaluate scope of work to be performed and determine whether to repair, rebuild, or replace various parts or assemblies
- Plan and schedule all aspects of a major repair or maintenance project
- Diagnose electrical or mechanical malfunctions by utilizing electronic test equipment
- Maintain complete and accurate records of all apparatus and equipment, showing in detail all work done to the particular vehicle or piece of equipment
- Plan, assign, coordinate, prioritize, and follow through with activities necessary to support the Fire Department mission
- Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge & Skills
- Ability to maintain gasoline and diesel engines to include drive trains, running gear components, pumps, pump valves piping, and high and low pressure air system
- Ability to repair, rebuild, maintain, and overhaul engines, mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic assemblies used in the Fire Department
- Ability to diagnose electrical or mechanical malfunctions by utilizing electronic test equipment
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
Experience & Education
- Minimum three (3) years of experience as an Emergency Vehicle Technician
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Prefer ASE Heavy Truck Certification
- Prefer EVT Level 1 Certification in Fire Apparatus, Ambulance, and/or ARFF Technician Certification Tracks
Physical Requirements/Working Environment
- Living and working conditions at the assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable
- Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions
- Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions
Travel
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally
Must have ability to obtain and maintain US security clearance at proper level
