(AFG-Bagram) Network Engineer (NIPR/SIPR)


Job Description


Understanding and ability to perform system design and development of engineering functions to support the engineering and acquisition of information systems to include the following: radio; fiber optics; cable plant; technical control; local and wide area networks; command and control; space communications; record data; switched data/voice; video computer; office automation; automation security; network security; physical security systems; network and systems management and control; and video teleconferencing.


Education


Bachelors Degree in Computer Science; Engineering; or a related technical discipline; or the equivalent combination of education; technical certifications or training; or work experience.


Qualifications


2-5 years of directly related experience in network analysis and design.


Candidates shall have information systems experience in network technologies; understanding of the information systems engineering and able to translate the functional requirements and performance objectives into design criteria and specifications for the individual elements and subsystems that will make up that system. They should also have knowledge of the following: Data Systems to include troubleshooting and configuration of routers; hubs and switches for both NIPRNET and SIPRNET connectivity; or; familiarity with the TCP/IP protocols (Ipv4 and Ipv6); Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) 802-3; routing protocols; intrusion detection systems; and firewalls. Network Operations Center to include trouble ticket reporting systems such as Remedy; network management systems such as HP Openview and Ciscoworks; or; help desk services for all network problems. Information Assurance policies and procedures.
