Below you will find a few facts that I have listed for your convenience. Hawthorne Army Depot is the largest ammunition storage facility in the world. SOC Nevada LLC does not deploy overseas. Hawthorne Nevada is a one mile square town with a population of about 3,500 people. The nearest major shopping facility (Walmart) is about 75 miles away in Fallon Nevada. The closest major city (Reno NV) is located about 2.5 driving hours away. Las Vegas Nevada is located about 5 driving hours away. Our climate compares to that of Afghanistan (dry desert) but the temperatures are not as extreme.

There are many opportunities in our area for outdoor recreation. Yosemite National Park, Mammoth Lakes Ski Resort, and many back-roads for hiking, biking, fishing, ATV/UTV travel are a few of the amenities right out our back door. Hawthorne is a patriotic and peaceful town.

Responsibilities:
Establish schedules and set priorities on the basis of general work schedules established by higher level of supervision. Ensure compliance with Company and governmental guidelines and regulations pertaining to the responsibilities of this position. Customarily and regularly directs the work of twenty (20) or more employees. Has the authority to hire and fire other employees or to recommend hiring, firing, promotion, or change of status of employees. Work requires the exercise of discretion and independent judgment. Perform other duties of the same or lower level of difficulty as assigned. May be assigned occasional duties of a higher level of difficulty than those listed above. Maintain high ethical standards, overall values of the business, and the Code of Ethics and Standards of Business Conduct to include cooperating during Company investigations; treat all individuals fairly and with respect.

Determine the number and skills of employees needed, materials, and equipment available and required. Select workers and assign tasks. Explain work requirements, methods, and procedures.

Review work in progress. Adjust plans, assignments, and methods as necessary to accomplish the work scheduled. Determine equipment and supplies needed. Coordinate work of unit with other units.

Implement instructions contained in the Standing Operating Procedures to produce quality products. Maintain production Reports and records. Participate in review and improvement of work methods, organizational features, and structure to achieve optimum efficiency.

Responsible for reporting potential real environmental concerns to the Environmental Service.

Responsible in meeting all contractual, state and federal requirements.

Responsible in meeting all company programs such as Safety, Security etc.


Qualifications:
Education : High School Diploma, Technical or College courses in Munitions Technology or Supervision desirable.


Experience : Eighteen (18) months experience in ordnance production or warehousing operations. Supervisory experience desirable.

(AFG-KANDAHAR) Lab Technician - Water


Job Summary

The* Laboratory Technician – Water* performs laboratory tests on potable and non-potable water.


Principal Accountabilities


  • Maintain detailed log of all products submitted to laboratory

  • Calibrate laboratory equipment and document results

  • Conduct tests on water samples and document results

  • Operate water purification equipment and ensure quality of produced water meets or exceeds identified requirements

  • Train operators in proper testing procedures

  • Monitor water purification operations to ensure product quality is maintained

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge & Skills


  • Working knowledge of using testing equipment such as turbidimeters, colorimeters, pH meters, and other water purification equipment

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software

  • Fluent in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English

Experience & Education


  • Minimum three (3) years of experience working in water process control and testing

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Minimum eight (8) hours of college chemistry

  • Certification in either water or waste water laboratory or equivalent field experience

Physical Requirements/Working Environment

  • Living and working conditions at assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable

(AFG-KANDAHAR) Firefighter


Job Summary

The Firefighter is responsible for protecting lives and property from fire by performing rescue and fire fighting operations that involve fires, vehicle accidents, and natural disasters.


Principal Accountabilities


  • Perform search, rescue, and fire fighting operations involving fires, accidents, floods, bomb incidents, and spillage of dangerous substances

  • Safely and efficiently operate emergency response vehicles, equipment, and tools

  • Operate hand and power tools to ventilate structures, position and climb ladders, pull hoses from truck bed and connect to hydrant and pump apparatus, and operate water charged hose lines of various sizes to combat fires

  • Operate pumps, foam generators, boom and ground sweep nozzles, and other similar equipment

  • Perform salvage and overhaul operations to minimize damage

  • Participate in station drills and emergency procedures training

  • Respond to hazardous materials emergencies in accordance with requirements

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge & Skills


  • Ability to make sound decisions quickly under stressful conditions and perform duties under hazardous conditions requiring considerable physical exertion

  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and non-verbally

  • Ability to work effectively with others

Experience & Education


  • No experience required

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Prefer Associate’s Degree

  • International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC), DOD, or National Pro-Board Certifications as Fire Fighter II, Hazardous Materials Operations, and Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF – not required for fire departments without an aircraft fire fighting mission)

  • Valid driver’s license

Physical Requirements/Working Environment


  • Capable of performing all duties of interior structural firefighting (OSHA 1910.156 requirement)

  • Living and working conditions at assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable

  • Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions

  • Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions
