Responsibilities:


  • In case of fire, lay lines, raise ladders, make forcible entry, and rescue persons as necessary.

  • Stand fire watches during hazardous operations such as welding.

  • Perform inspection, testing, cleaning, servicing, and repair of equipment such as fire extinguishers, fire hydrants, sprinkler systems and breathing apparatus. Conduct periodic inspections and flow tests on hydrants. Service fire hydrants in assigned area.

  • Perform fire prevention, pre‑fire planning, and building inspections.

  • Participate in practice drills, demonstrations, classroom study, lectures, and video presentations. Perform all firefighting duties and use breathing apparatus during practice drills. Receive instruction in ventilation procedures, forcible entry, salvage practices, general rescue practices, knot tying, and other subjects pertinent to fire prevention and firefighting operations.

  • Responsible for reporting potential real environmental concerns to the Environmental Service.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid State of Nevada, Class B CDL license with an “F” endorsement.

  • Perform other duties of the same or lower level of difficulty as assigned. May be assigned occasional duties of a higher level of difficulty than those listed above. The duties of this classification may overlap duties performed by employees in other classifications.

Qualifications:
EDUCATION: High school graduate or equivalent plus, Nevada EMT Basic or (National Registry) or higher. Applicants MUST be IFSAC, ProBoard, DoD Firefighter I or State of Nevada Firefighter certified at minimum . Applicant must have Fire Fighting technical school training. Degree in Fire Science highly desirable.


EXPERIENCE: Applicant must be physically fit to withstand extreme heat, cold, and smoke. Perform arduous climbing, lifting, raising, running, and crawling. Applicant must have a working knowledge of applied mathematics and hydraulics. Applicant must be able to use simple formulas to compute engine pressures for providing adequate flow of water at the nozzle. Applicant must be able to use all tools and equipment skillfully. Job Summary

The Light Vehicle Mechanic performs repairs and maintains all light vehicles and equipment including, but not limited to, ATVs, light trucks, cars, and small engines such as pressure washers, air compressors, and small generators.


Principal Accountabilities


  • Perform light equipment maintenance activities including installation, repair, trouble-shooting, diagnostics, and preventive maintenance on all types of automotive equipment, gasoline and diesel powered vehicles

  • Repair, adjust, and overhaul or replace major assemblies or subassemblies such as engine mechanical, electrical, air-conditioning, fuel, emission, power train, brake, steering, and suspension using computerized test equipment, calibration devices, gauges, etc.

General Function


The Program Director will work on the USAID funded Afghan Civic Engagement Program (ACEP). ACEP is a five year program primed by Counterpart International with Internews as a partner. The goal of ACEP is to promote civil society and media engagement that enables Afghan citizens to influence policy, monitor government accountability, and serve as an advocate for political reform. The program aims to achieve this goal through five program areas: (1) regular CSO engagement with government; (2) increased CSO and media thematic expertise in democracy and governance; (3) expanded civic engagement; (4) improved access to independent news and public affairs information; and (5) increased CSO organizational capacity. The majority of Internews’ ACEP activities fall under program area 4.


The Program Director will report to the Country Director and work closely with Internews’ Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP) for the ACEP program. He/she will provide management support on all program activities and leadership on M&E, communications, and reporting. He/she will ensure good coordination and communications among the whole Internews team to promote efficient and effective implementation of the program. He/she will also provide support to the Country Director, as required, in the day to day activities of the Kabul office.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities


The Program Director will be responsible for a variety of tasks including the following:


  • Overall program management of ACEP program with support from the DCOP and Country Director.

  • Overseeing the implementation of the ACEP M&E plan and support partners with tracking and reporting on program activities.

  • Directly supervising the ACEP M&E and Communications team.

  • Leading the development of all internal and external communications materials in collaboration with Internews’ Country Director.

  • Working with Internews DCOP and ACEP partners to ensure effective and timely implementation of activities as well as completion of all deliverables.

  • Mentoring local program management staff and ensuring their involvement in all aspects of ACEP implementation.

  • Supporting the Country Director, as required, in the day-to-day running of the Kabul office.

  • Representing Internews at external meetings as required.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications


  • At least five years’ experience in program implementation and management required, and experience managing USAID-funded programs desirable.

(AFG-KABUL) Air Asset Controller


Job Summary


Communicates and coordinates requests received from Flight Crew with various internal departments as well as outside vendors in support of the U.S. Department of State (DoS), Bureau for Diplomatic Security (DS), under oversight from the Bureau for International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs Office of Aviation (INL/A).


Principal Accountabilities


  • Ensures flight Crew briefs comply with the program’s agreement/contract and applicable regulations.

  • Verifies Flight Crew is in position for briefed flight activities.

  • Be able to brief both Fixed-Wing and Rotary Wing Crews on all aspects of each trip including owner/customer requests and special needs.

  • Arranges/updates to crew operational issues, such as early and late operations at/with fixed base operators or/and other applicable personnel.

  • Flight follow assigned program aircraft and update arrival and departure times.

  • Actively maintains case management documentation concerning issues impacting owner/customer flights.

  • Manages crew communication center and provides timely responses to Fixed-Wing and Rotary Wing Crews.

  • Receives inbound communications from flight crew and adheres to departmental policies and standards concerning phone call statistics.

  • Facilitates and communicates Fixed-Wing and Rotary Wing Crew transportation and other accommodation elements.

  • Initiates and conducts training within his/her respective area of responsibility as required by meeting all contract objectives.

  • As aviation planner, be able to plan/coordinate flight routes in support of DOS air movement, and plan all customer air movement for the daily manifest. Responsible for coordinating incoming aircraft schedules and organizing cargo onto aircraft as required.

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Knowledge & Skills


  • Extensive knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations, Airman Certificate, military service preferred, and/or internship with an airline, or flight department.

  • Ability to type a minimum of 45 words per minute.

  • Must be proficient with MS Office Suite, (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Word) and Windows operating systems.

  • Ability to read, write, and interpret technical data is required in English.

  • Extensive knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations, Airman Certificate, military service, and/or internship with an airline, or flight department.

  • Possess of the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret Security Clearance is a condition of continued employment; possession of a current DoD Secret

  • Security Clearance is preferred.

  • Possess a valid US Passport or have the ability to obtain one before assignment.

Experience & Education


  • Two (2) years experience in related technical environment. Preferred experience in a Tactical Air Operations Center, Air Operations Center and/or Direct Air Support Center. Must be subject matter expert on Single Mobility Systems (U.S. Army standard for fixed wing aircraft use).

  • Associates degree in an aviation associated discipline. Two (2) years of experience may be substituted for each of the two (2) years of the degree.

Physical Requirements/Working Environment


  • Must be able to walk or stand on level and/or inclined surfaces up to three (3) hours per day and sit for up to five (5) hours per day.

  • Must be able to routinely climb / descend stairs.

  • On occasion must be able to lift 30 pounds.

  • Must be able to routinely grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbows / knees, and reach above / below shoulders.

  • Must be able to read and interpret newspaper and typewritten print.

  • Must be able to communicate by voice and detect sound by ear.

  • Must be able to distinguish color and judge three-dimensional depths.

  • Must be capable of living and working in a potentially hostile environment for an extended period. May be required to travel to and between remote location(s) in austere environments.

  • May be required to respond to a wide variety of operational circumstances, including extreme weather conditions and rudimentary infrastructure. May be exposed to extreme noise from turbine and jet engine aircraft. May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles; may be exposed to electrical shock hazards or work near moving mechanical parts, vehicles, or aircraft.

Travel


  • Must be able to travel to and between remote locations in austere and/or hostile environments.
