Job Description Under general supervision, supervises and manages labor personnel at a site.
Ensures requirements are met and implements changes as required. Performs labor services such as cleaning, general labor, and escorting. Maintains and cleans equipment as required.
Responsible for a crew of laborers performing assigned duties, which may include any combination of the following tasks, such as erecting, repairing, and wrecking buildings and bridges; installing waterworks, locks and dams; grading and maintaining railroad right-of-ways and laying ties and rails; and widening, deepening, and improving rivers, canals, and harbors. Typical duties include oversight of crews digging, spreading, and leveling dirt and gravel, using pick and shovel. Assists with lifting, carrying, and holding building materials, tools, and supplies. Cleans tools, equipment, materials, and work areas. Mixes, pours, and spreads concrete, asphalt, gravel, and other materials, using hand tools. Joins, wraps, and seals sections of pipe. Performs a variety of routine, non-machine tasks, such as removing forms from set concrete, filling expansion joints with asphalt, placing culvert sections in trench, assembling sections of dredge pipeline, removing wallpaper, and laying railroad track. Ensures crew completion of work orders according to specifications and regulations, makes recommendations to supervisors.
Supervises a team of employees, subcontractor and/or labor broker personnel, in accordance with the “General Supervisory Duties and Responsibilities” addendum.
Candidates must be available to interview, and must posses the ability to read, write and speak fluent English to be considered.
Position may be located in a war zone in a contingency environment with harsh and dangerous working and living conditions, including lifting and carrying 25 pounds of personal protective equipment for extended periods of time. To ensure safety, health, and security measures within the contract are met, all employees shall be literate in English (read, write, speak and understand).
Living conditions on the project are most likely austere. The most austere sleeping may be in environmentally conditioned tents on “Army type” cots. Restrooms and showers may be 250 feet or further from sleeping quarters. Laundry service for 15 pounds twice per week is commonly provided. Meals are provided at regular intervals in cafeteria or “dining facility” style environment. Living area will most likely have constant hum of generators or similar equipment nearby.

Basic Job Requirements High school diploma or GED equivalent required and 3 years of directly related experience.
Other Job Requirements Workers should be able to: Follow specific directions; perform a variety of duties which may often change; work within standards of accuracy; repeat tasks of short duration according to a set procedure; evaluate information using measurable standards. Physically, workers must be able to: Stand or walk for long periods; use arms and hands to reach for, handle, and manipulate objects; lift and carry materials weighing 50 to 100 pounds; climb up and down ladders, scaffolds, and other objects and carry tools and equipment; stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl, and see (naturally or with correction). Good communication and leadership skills.
Preferred Qualifications Prior Military and/or Contingency Operations experience preferred.
