Job Description

SOS International LLC (SOSi) is seeking a Broadcast Editor for a full-time position supporting our United States Government (USG) customer. This position reports to the Production Creation Manager.

Essential Job Duties:

• Uses creative skills in art and design to communicate a story, message or idea

• Create images and designs by using the traditional hand skills of drawing and painting, alongside other techniques, to meet design requirements as required by the customer

• Develops graphics for inclusion in various media, including print, presentations, electronic materials, posters, handbills, magazines and leaflets

• Develops conceptual media products

• Edits a variety of media, B-roll footage and audio

• Determines the medium best suited to producing desired visual effect and most appropriate vehicle for communicating media message

• Prepares sketches, layouts and graphic elements using traditional tools, multimedia software and image processing, layout and design software

• Works with pre-existing photos/graphic images, and illustration archives, including Combat Camera (COMCAM) and public affairs photography

• Coordinates all aspects of production of print and electronic materials (posters, handbills, billboards, leaflets, tri-folds, pamphlets and magazines)

• Develops and produces realistic or representational sketches and final illustrations, by hand or using computer-assisted design (CAD) software

• Develops storyboards for electronic productions

• Assists with determining the medium best suited to producing desired visual effect and most appropriate vehicle for communicating media message

• Produces 2-D and 3-D animated drawings or computer illustrations

Minimum Requirements

• US citizenship with a current DOD SECRET security clearance

• Five (5) years experience working commercially in multi-media production

• Traditional hand skills of drawing and painting, alongside other techniques

• Specialized skills in animation, cartoon, graffiti, caricature, etc. preferred

• Working proficiency in Adobe Final Cut Pro, Illustrator, Adobe PageMaker, Premier, Freehand, Dreamweaver, Photoshop CS3, InDesign and Streamline; Macromedia Director, and other multi-media and graphics software in Windows or Macintosh required

• Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism, Graphic Design, Media Production, Marketing or related field preferred

• Former Military Occupational Specialty of 25M, Graphics Illustrator or equivalent training a plus

• Experience as a producer preferred

• Must be comfortable working in a sound booth and editing suite

• Demonstrated ability to complete sound and image editing, sub-titles, transfer final products to tape (digi-Beta, mini-DV, all formats including PAL)

• Excellent written, oral, briefing, interpersonal and technical skills

• Ability to function effectively and efficiently in a combat zone, during extended periods of high pressure and stress

• Ability to wear up to 45 lbs of combat gear, including vest and helmet

• Willingness to travel outside secure compounds independent of Coalition Forces

• Dari and/or Pashtu language skills are desired

• Live and work with military customers in austere conditions across Afghanistan daily

• Function effectively and efficiently in a combat zone, during extended periods of high pressure and stress

• Ability to wear up to 45 lbs of combat gear, including vest and helmet

• Travel outside secure compounds independent of Coalition Forces, as required to perform duties
