Afghanistan: iMMAP Information Management Officer Afghanistan
The IMO will attend periodic Information Management meetings with the iMMAP IMO team and Country Coordinator to share updates on ongoing IM products and activities and promote good practices in the organization.
The IMO is responsible for integration of Cluster-related and OFDA partner data on Common Operating Picture (COP) Information System developed by iMMAP.
The IMO will promote the effective use of the designated information system, including the production and dissemination of situation reports, newsletters, infographics, maps, and application tools.
The IMO will create and develop custom reports and map layers requested by either the clusters or OFDA Implementing Partners or Country Coordinator.
The IMO will advise on the design and customization of databases from the reporting Clusters.
The IMO will engage with the assigned iMMAP developer to design and maintain a tracking system in order to provide timely indicators and reports.
The IMO will represent iMMAP interests at and assist in the development of cooperative data exchange and information management networks beneficial to iMMAP by liaising with stakeholder organizations to include but not limited to OCHA IMWG.
The IMO will work with the iMMAP Afghanistan team to ensure that all support requirements of iMMAP, OFDA, OCHA and other organizations are met in a timely and efficient manner.
The IMO will identify gaps in current Implementing Partner participants and will engage with NGOs, Humanitarian and development organizations to restore renew or join participation in data sharing or IM support.
The IMO will assist with the migration of client based tools to web based tools.
The IMO will develop gap analysis and review of available data and pursue the collection of the missing data.
The IMO will develop and supervise data collection processes and overall data management activities including encoding, storing, processing and support IM standardization and analysis of the collected data and information.
The IMO will ensure timely preparation and generation of information products, and support on information sharing and dissemination through web platforms to all relevant Humanitarian implementing partners.
The IMO will conduct iMMAP demonstrations and training sessions.
The IMO will develop standard formats for, and regular output of publication of materials and statistics highlighting the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan as required by OFDA and the Clusters.
The IMO will mentor iMMAP national staff to build capacity to include but not be limited to GIS and data management.
Under the leadership of the Country Coordinator, engage potential donors and pursue alternative funding sources for iMMAP.
The IMO will provide inputs to all quarterly and annual reports including but not limited to the final COP report.
Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the Country Coordinator.
Desired Skills and Experience
REQUIRED
At least 10 years of experience in the field of Information Management (IM)
Advanced Master University degree
Knowledge of the GIS range of technical products and tools.
Experience in database administration and management.
Knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and others infographics tools/software
Good Knowledge of UN/Clusters mechanisms, IM needs and gaps related to humanitarian operation.
DESIRED
Proven ability and experience interacting with a wide range of organizations while upholding humanitarian principles of impartiality and neutrality;
Practical experience working in emergency response or other fast paced high stress environment, such as Afghanistan
Experience in open source web mapping solutions is an advantage
