Afghanistan: Export specialist
Chemonics seeks a short-term export specialist for the ongoing USAID Regional Agricultural Development Program-South (RADP-S). The export specialist will assess the export opportunities for the geographic area of Afghanistan; develop written guidance documents for export and trade promotion; and, with the RADP-S value chain advisor and value chain director, train program staff on trade promotion and creating an activity plan for fiscal year 2017. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.
Responsibilities Include:
- Create an export opportunity study for the RADP-S geographic area
- Design an export guide for use by RADP-S enterprises/traders
- Design a trade promotion process, including templates and normative timelines, for use by RADP-S team members
- With RADP-S staff, advance three to five trade opportunities together
- In conjunction with the program’s value chain advisor and value chain director, train RADP-S staff on trade promotion
- In conjunction with the value chain advisor and value chain director, generate an activity plan for trade promotion for inclusion in the fiscal year 2017 work plan
Qualifications:
- Minimum five years of experience in trade and export promotion in developing markets
- Experience working in Islamic countries preferred
- Strong intercultural sensitivity
- Ability to promote knowledge management and a learning environment in the office through leadership and personal example
- In-depth practical knowledge of interdisciplinary development issues
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
