(AFG-Kabul) Aircraft Engine Mechanic
SUMMARY:
Position is responsible for maintaining of aircraft propulsion systems and sub-systems to ensure airworthiness. Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance for the C130 propulsion system. The duties include, but are not limited to: assisting with sortie-generation, maintaining, repairing and inspecting of all related propulsion systems and subsystems in addition to providing technical support for aircraft IAW USAF 1C-130A-6WC-15.
The completion of scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, parts ordering and propulsion issues.
Repairs, replaces and rebuilds propulsion systems and related components, such as engines, engine modules and accessories, propellers, and propeller control systems; using common and specialized hand tools, power tools, machines and support equipment.
Reads and interprets manufacturer and USAF maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and other related documentation to determine feasibility and method of altering or repairing the aircraft propulsion system and its associated components, determining the airworthiness of the system and its associated components and replacement for malfunctioning or damaged components.
Inspects associated components for airworthiness; repairs or replaces defective parts and associated components.
Troubleshoots, repairs and replaces electrical engine wiring and associated components.
Performs miscellaneous duties related to propulsion system servicing, including hydraulic system servicing, engine oil replenishment, system lubrication, etc…
Interacts with company MOC, the customer and manufacturer in matters that concern the airworthiness of the propulsion system, operational readiness of the aircraft and issues related to the troubleshooting of the aircraft’s propulsion.
Must know the maintenance sections of the maintenance manual, the operation and the provisions and applicable parts of Military Maintenance.
Must effectively interact with Company and customer representatives as well as with representatives of on-site business or military entities.
Perform other duties as assigned by the on-site Aircraft Mechanic Sr.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Required
High School diploma or GED.
Federal Aviation Administration Airframe and Power Plant License.
Five (5) years’ aviation experience.
Must have experience with working from blueprint drawings, diagram, specifications, service manuals, sketches, templates and other incomplete data.
Knowledge and understanding of applicable C-130 Maintenance Program.
Preferred
Airframe and Powerplant Certification or military equivalent military job classification
Background working in austere and/or hostile areas
Ten (10) years’ Aviation Maintenance experience.
Three (3) years’ experience with relevant fleet type.
WORK CONDITIONS:
Position is located OCONUS and in an austere environment; work is being performed in a hangar or aviation field environment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to lift and parts, tooling and other awkward items sometimes weighing greater than 50 lbs, including up and down stairs. Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting, squatting, stretching, and bending throughout the workday. Must be able to see and hear, or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to assure that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
