(AFG-Kabul) GSK S3 Operations Trainer


Requirement Overview:

The S3 Trainer shall implement and operate programs, practices, and procedures for developing optimal utilization of personnel. Design and administer programs to train all levels of personnel. Develop tests and visual aids. Coordinate class arrangements, conduct training classes, and develop criteria for evaluating effectiveness of training activities. Keep abreast of training and development research: learning theory, motivation theory, and new materials, methods, and techniques. Develop programs and practices to identify developmental needs including preparing personnel for more responsible positions and increasing effectiveness in present assignments. If required, may use technical experts to assist in training.


Work Hours:

Work may include nights, holidays, and weekends on short notice. Standard will be to conduct training six (6) days per week for up to twelve (12) hours per day while at OCONUS work site(s) and a standard 40 hour work week while at CONUS work sites.


Responsibilities:
* Train the Special Mission Wing S3 officer and staff

* Report to site manager as well as the Program Manager located at Camp Morehead

* Responsible for regularly interacting with US military personnel

* Based on circumstances that are unique to their work locations, trainer will be responsible for making on the scene decisions as to how to execute the curriculum

* Along with their local site managers, trainer will be responsible for assessing how well

the ANA students have learned the coursework

* Provide appropriate levels of guidance for maintaining situation awareness of current operations throughout the ANASOC’s AOR, assist in the development of operational plans, while coordinating with other military organizations and their capabilities.

* Responsible for the Military Decision Making Process (MDMP) at the battalion level and higher

* Plan, coordinate, prepare for, and execute tactical tasks, synchronize functions among them to include the planning and orders process and continually assess the situation or execution of operations; MDMP; integration of and coordination between special operations and conventional forces.


Required Operational, Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
* 4 year experience with Special Operations, with combat experience, preferably in Afghanistan. Preferred candidate will have at least 4 years military aviation unit experience with the US Army or Marine Corps with experience at the Battalion level (or equivalent). The trainer shall have had an occupational specialty equal to US Army Military 01A (Combat Arms Officer Branch Immaterial) or service equivalent. It is highly desired that the candidate have at least 3 years of experience in a S3 Operations shop at the Battalion level or higher.
* Must have appropriate levels of experience in planning, coordinating, resourcing, and executing tactical and operational level operations; Capable of providing guidance and direction in the development of efficient Plans/Policy; Providing guidance with the development of the systems necessary to develop Plans/Policy at a Division level; Experience advising and working with foreign military and civilian personnel.

* Familiarity with the ANA Decrees is a must

* Must have a minimum experience of 12 months working in Afghanistan, in any military capacity.
* Shall have deployed operational experience in support of the Global War on Terrorism (GWOT) working at a Task Force or equivalent level in a supervisory role.
* Must be able to competently operate a Personal Computer to include excellent skills with MS Office (Word, PPT, Excel, etc.)

* Excellent Interpersonal and People Skills

* Excellent Oral and Written Communication Skills

* Good Organizational Skills

* Good Project Management Ability and Skills

* Ability to plan and organize work, analyze problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data and recognize solutions.

* Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

* Must be able to obtain and maintain a US DoD Secret Security Clearance

* Must be able to obtain a Visa for Afghanistan

Physical Requirements/Working Environment

* Include but are not limited to the wear of body armor and helmet Personal Protective Gear, unassisted lifting and carrying of duffle bags not exceed the weight of 70 lbs per piece, and the unassisted movement over uneven terrain.

* Must be willing to work and live in Afghanistan with an understanding that there could be further assignments to any location in Afghanistan based upon the needs of the U.S. Government, to include hostile and austere areas.

* Must be able to attend and pass USG deployment requirements at CONUS Replacement Center (CRC), Fort Bliss, Texas or equivalent location.

* Must meet the medical requirements for the position being offered as determined by a pre-employment medical screening and in accordance with published CRC and USCENTCOM medical deployment standards.

* Must be able to walk or stand on level and/or inclined surfaces up to eight (8) hours per day and sit for up to three (3) hours per day.

* Employee will be required to work and live in a potentially hostile environment, at remote locations, and under austere conditions.

* Employee may be required to respond to a wide variety of operational circumstances, under extreme weather conditions, within a hostile environment.

* The individual may be exposed to extreme noise from aircraft, hostile fire, and other acts of aggression associated with this region.


Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

* Active U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance

* Prefer Infantry or Special Operations background

* Prefer previous experience training and advising foreign military soldiers


Required Education:

Must have a Bachelor’s Degree and 4 years of related work experience.


8 years of relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of education requirement.
