(AFG-KANDAHAR) Equipment Maintenance Technician
Job Summary
The Equipment Maintenance Technician will use basic tools or instruments to repair, diagnose, assemble, adjust, test and calibrate assigned equipment at various program facilities as assigned, such as recreation services centers, lodging facilities, and other designated facilities.
Principal Accountabilities
(Typical duties include the following, although specific duties vary by assignment or contract.)
- Perform regular preventive maintenance service and inspections of assigned equipment. Examine defective machines to determine causes of malfunctions. Adjust and repair machines, replacing worn or defective electrical or mechanical parts.
- Responsible for the repair and maintenance of fitness equipment, machines and bicycles. Other Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) facilities equipment includes popcorn machines, arcade machines, microwaves, refrigerators, and open face coolers located in recreation services facilities.
- Lodging facilities equipment includes maintenance of washer/dryer appliances at laundry facilities, and all small appliance maintenance/repair for those items under lodging office responsibility.
- Ensure fire detection and suppression equipment are present and operational in each lodging facility.
- Ensure machines are maintained according to the manufacturer’s recommendations by performing preventive maintenance tasks.
- Check and properly test computer panels/systems to ensure all functions are operational and working properly.
- Maintain a maintenance log to record all service performed weekly and recommendations for parts and supplies.
- Manage expendable and non-expendable supply and equipment items through stock control, requisitioning, delivery and inventory control.
- Store, assemble, breakdown, remove, deliver, and install machines, appliances, furniture, refrigerators and other recreational and lodging related items as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of basic electrical principals and hand tools.
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply manufacturer’s instructional service manuals of assigned equipment.
- Background in equipment maintenance, preferably with assigned equipment.
- Ability to provide knowledgeable, courteous and professional customer service.
- Additional knowledge/skills may be required by contract or assignment.
Experience & Education
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Three (3) years’ experience in equipment service and repair.
- May be required to have specific equipment experience or certifications that will vary by contract and equipment assigned.
Physical Requirements/Working Environment
- Living and working conditions at assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable
- Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions
- Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions
Travel
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally
