(AFG) Heavy Equipment Mechanic
POSITION IS LOCATED IN AFGHANISTAN
POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for maintaining, servicing and repairing heavy off road mobile military equipment. This includes large loaders, water trucks, dozers, cranes and other support equipment at the general support levels of maintenance. Diagnoses source(s) of trouble and determines extent of repairs required for mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs a full range of overhaul, repair and service of all engineer/construction/heavy equipment maintenance
- Troubleshoots and repairs work on suspensions, engines, frames, transfers, transmissions, differentials, hydraulic systems, fuel and pneumatic systems, steering mechanisms and turbo chargers
- Ensures that safety and environmental policies and guidelines are followed without exception
- Maintains and oversees section tool/bench stock room and operation
- Other duties may also be assigned as needed
ADDITIONAL BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
- Analyzes malfunctions and repairs, rebuilds and maintains power equipment such as cranes, power shovels, scrapers, paving machines, motor graders, trench-digging machines, conveyors, bulldozers, dredges, pumps, compressors and pneumatic tools.
- Operates and inspects machines or equipment to diagnose defects.
- Dismantles and reassembles equipment, using hoists and hand tools.
- Examines parts for damage or excessive wear, using micrometers and gauges.
- Replaces defective engines and subassemblies, such as transmissions.
- Tests overhauled equipment to insure operating efficiency.
- Welds broken parts and structural members.
- May direct workers engaged in cleaning parts and assisting with assembly and disassembly of equipment.
- May repair, adjust and maintain mining machinery such as stripping and loading shovels, drilling and cutting machines, and continuous mining machines.
REQUIRED:
- Must have current NACI or Secret DoD clearance
- Must be able to obtain a VISA for Afghanistan
- Must pass pre-employment physical, medical and dental exams for overseas deployment
- Must have knowledge of diesel engines
- Certification(s) detailing training and experience, please upload with resume

- Current U.S. passport
Education: High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
Experience: At least one year; five to seven years related experience preferred
Computer Skills: Basic operation of personal computer
