JOB TITLE & SUMMARY: Operator/Technician (Antenna Systems)
Location: All NSOM Remote Tracking Stations (RTS)
In this role the individual operates and maintains Air Force Satellite Control Network (AFSCN) command, status, telemetry, tracking control equipment, data recorders and other system enhancements at Remote Tracking Station (RTS).
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs operational pre-pass, realtime, and post-pass functions in accordance with RTS OIs.
Performs corrective maintenance actions on associated site equipment.
Performs preventative maintenance according to Preventative Maintenance Inspections (PMI) manuals and assists in corrective maintenance according to equipment manuals.
Documents maintenance actions in accordance with Air Force maintenance procedures.
Identifies, investigates, analyzes, and corrects field maintenance problems and performs repair on various AFSCN system equipment.
May be required to provide limited System Administration duties, to include application database and virus definition updates, for operational system equipment and any associated upgraded equipment in use.
Completes and maintains required logs and records.
Exercises technical judgment in the performance of duties.
May be required to perform as COMSEC Manager, COMSEC Responsible Officer, or perform other collateral duties.
Complies with applicable safety and security directives.
Maintains work area and equipment in a clean, safe and uncluttered manner.
May be required to assist in providing on-the-job-training to other technicians.
Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be able to speak and write in clear English
Must be able to complete system certification tasks within specified timeframes
DoD Secret security clearance (current/active clearance strongly desired).
Experience with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel spreadsheets.
High school diploma and a minimum of two years of experience in the operation and maintenance of computer systems, radar, telemetry, and/or electronics.
Minimum two years vocational training or related military experience in electronics and working knowledge of electronics fundamentals. Should be familiar with the use of electronic test equipment to include multi-meters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, frequency counters, signal generators, power meters, and data analyzers.
CompTIA A+ certification (or more advanced) (Desired or may be Required based on position)
Valid US (State) Driver’s License
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduate of military or civilian technical school in associated field. (highly desired)
Familiarity with Electrostatic Discharge program and applicable regulations/instructions. (highly desired)
Familiarity with electronic test equipment and safety procedures. (highly desired)
Experience with Air Force Electrical and Safety Management process and procedures. (highly desired)
Familiarity with Air Force Safety, Health, and Environmental processes and procedures (highly desired)
Certified Red Cross CPR/AED/First Aid (Highly Desired)
Satellite Communications system (RF & Mechanical) familiarity
Experience with Government contracting
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Be able to safely lift up to 50 pounds.
Be able to operate test and maintenance equipment to include hydraulic lifts, safety harnesses, climbing equipment, ladders, and stairs.
