(AFG-KABUL) Rotary Wing Maintenance Instructor


Job Summary


The Rotary Wing Maintenance Instructor performs course instruction using the Instructional System Development (ISD) process. The position will instruct technicians in one or more areas to include but not limited to aircraft theory, aircraft repair, operations maintenance, electronics/avionics, safety, and computer applications. Will facilitate both classroom and hands on training for assigned personnel and act as a subject matter expert in assigned field of rotary wing aircraft maintenance.


Principal Accountabilities


(Typical duties include the following, although specific duties vary by assignment or contract)


  • Facilitate classroom instruction for assigned personnel.

  • Deliver training modules in assigned area of aircraft maintenance.

  • Work with course development specialist to create a sound training curriculum that utilizes both formal instruction and on the job training.

  • Perform subject matter expert duties for technicians.

  • Coach and correct performance issues on the job in order to facilitate learning.

  • Develop and support initiatives that continuously improve the performance quality of the customer and service of the Training Department.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge & Skills


  • Knowledge and understanding of the Instructional System Development (ISD) process through formal training.

  • Must possess knowledge of training techniques, methods of instruction, learning processes, training curriculum development, training evaluations and training support systems/procedures.

  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written.

  • Ability to facilitate and present course material of a technical nature.

  • Strong comfort level with public speaking.

  • Ability to create and adjust presentations to enable learning.

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of assigned area of training. Ability to create an environment fit for learning and having a positive regard for others.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

  • Ability to read and write English fluently.

  • Previous U.S. Government agency security clearance within the last 15 years or approved NACI within the last 10 years required.

Experience & Education


  • High school diploma or equivalent. Associate’s degree, preferred.

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in facilitating classroom and on the job training for military or technical students.

  • Minimum of two (2) years Avionics experience (Level 1, 5-1), six (6) years experience (Level 2, 5-2), or eight (8) years experience (Level 3, 5-3) on Mi-8/Mi-17 Aircraft.

  • Must have an FCC License or equivalent.

  • Must hold an OEM certification

  • Documentation showing minimum seven (7) years of experience in given specialty or holding seven (7) skill level or equivalent.

  • Graduate of an accredited instructor/teacher training course or equivalent is mandatory.

Physical Requirements/Working Environment


  • Living conditions may be cramped and substandard compared to western (US) standards.

  • May be required to perform duties at remote and austere locations.

  • Must be able to withstand extreme temperatures and environments while working in field conditions.

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds to waist level and 30 pounds to shoulder height.

Travel


  • 10 – 15%

  • Travel to austere or inhospitable high stress environments will be required.

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
