About the Position:
These positions are under the supervision of the Director, Materiel Fielding & Training Directorate, AMSTA-LCF-M. The referral list generated by this announcement may be used to fill future vacancies in other organizations throughout the Integrated Logistics Support Center (ILSC). The ILSC is responsible for sustaining war fighting readiness and managing a large part of the Army’s investment in war fighting capacity as integrators of nearly 3,000 weapon systems that form the core of the Army’s war fighting capability.

Selection for assignment to this position requires passing an appropriate physical examination (including drug testing) for overseas deployment.

Position may require travel Outside the Continental United States (OCONUS) to areas such as Afghanistan, Kuwait, or other potentially high-threat OCONUS environments, or other hostile areas.

May be required to deploy on short notice.

May be required to: stand for long periods of time, bend, stoop, crouch, stretch, reach, lift or carry 50 pounds, climb up, down, in and out of vehicles and equipment.


Duties


As an instructor the New Equipment Training Program, you will:

Provides classroom and functional training, instruction and technical assistance in the operation and maintenance of military systems to Active Army, Army National Guard, Army Reserves, and other U.S. Forces.

You will develop detailed lesson plans/training aids on operation/maintenance procedures through review of publications, charts, drawings, reports, & blueprints for mechanical, electrical, electronic, hydraulic systems & major components.

You will assure the course content meets students’ needs.

You will provide technical assistance/training in the operation/maintenance of the system including computer programming, analysis of malfunction reports, trouble shooting, & repair.

You will maintain training and course records in appropriate databases.

You will obtain classroom space, arrange for visual materials & set up components in shop area.

Qualifications


In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience required: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.


To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: conducting training, assisting in the development of detailed lesson plans and training aids on operation and maintenance procedures; experience with tools and equipment required to assemble, disassemble, modify, maintain, or cannibalize equipment. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).


You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills, abilities) in the following areas:

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you may qualify if your education meets the definitions below:

Education qualifying for a GS-11: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or three (3) full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, or completion of all requirements for an LL.M degree from an accredited college or university (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

Combining Education and Experience: If you have some, but not all, of the experience or education described above, you may still qualify by combining the amount of creditable experience and education that you possess. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education in excess of 2 years by 18. Add the 2 percentages. Note: For the purpose of qualifications, 1 full year of graduate education is equivalent to 18 semester hours. (Note: you MUST attach a copy of your transcripts)

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Position is designated non-critical sensitive as defined in DoD 5200.2-R. This requires that a personnel security investigation be adjudicated on a pre-appointment basis which may take up to 90 days or longer to process. The selectee may be allowed to start work prior to adjudication if management approved. Obtaining and maintaining a secret security clearance is a condition of employment. If the security clearance is denied or revoked, the individual may be denied or removed from the position, accordingly.

Frequent extended duty with long hours under high pressure & general high-risk job responsibilities.

Locality pay does not apply in the overseas area.

Appropriate safety equipment is required, e.g. safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hat, and safety shoes.

May require shift work and/or work on rotating shifts to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays and in other situations.

May require to work in locations that range from excessive heat/humidity to extreme cold/rainy weather conditions.
