Overhead Door mech. / Tent Repair Specialist
Job Description The Tent Repair Specialist must have overhead door experience to inspect job sites for door clearances, study blueprints and schematics diagrams and adjust entrances if they malfunction within facilities and flight line operations. Using a welder or fasteners, they hang back hangers to ceilings and install tracks, set doors in place, install springs, ensure proper functioning and calibrate and set entrance openers. They may use a welder and shaping machines to fabricate doors for custom openings as well as custom parts to replace broken or worn ones. Additionally, the overhead door specialist must installing dock seals and bumpers, testing treadle operating systems, using hand tools to cut holes in floors for door installation, packing lubricant into door closer chambers and winding large springs. They operate lifts and winches and carry springs to the tops of entrances and replace worn or broken parts, like springs, openers and brackets. These workers remove or place defective doors or openers and install completely new entrance systems and openers. They complete service work orders, order new parts, and provide work estimates to DPW Management.

Position may be located in a war zone in a contingency environment with harsh and dangerous working and living conditions, including lifting and carrying 40 pounds of personal protective equipment for extended periods of time. To ensure safety, health, and security measures within the contract are met, all employees shall be literate in English (read, write, speak and understand).
Living conditions on the project are most likely austere. The most austere sleeping may be in environmentally conditioned tents on “Army type” cots. Restrooms and showers may be 250 feet or further from sleeping quarters. Laundry service for 15 pounds twice per week is commonly provided. Meals are provided at regular intervals in cafeteria or “dining facility” style environment. Living area will most likely have constant hum of generators or similar equipment nearby.

Basic Job Requirements High school diploma / GED equivalent preferred. Two (2) years related experience.
Preferred Qualifications Prior Military and/or Contingency Operations experience preferred.
