(AFG-KANDAHAR) HVAC Supervisor
Job Summary
The Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Supervisor is responsible for supervising HVAC personnel and the installation, maintenance, modification, overhaul, service, and repair of air conditioning and refrigeration systems and equipment.
Principal Accountabilities
(Typical duties include the following, although specific duties vary by assignment or contract)
- Supervise HVAC personnel and participate in the installation, maintenance, and repair of refrigeration and air conditioning systems to ensure that the work performed is in compliance with blueprints, manufacturer specifications, and written and/or verbal instructions
- Plan, schedule, and assign work and crews to ensure adequate resources for efficient performance of duties
- Monitor jobs to ensure quality and compliance with standards, update HVAC records, report on performance, and resolve issues
- Instruct personnel on activities relating to air conditioning and refrigeration maintenance to ensure an acceptable work performance level
- Supervise or assist in personnel actions including, but not limited to, hiring, performance appraisals, promotions, and scheduling time off
- Connect motors, compressors, temperature controls, humidity controls, and circulating ventilation fans to control panels and connect control panels to power source
- May install, repair, and service up to twenty (20)-ton air conditioners
- Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge & Skills
- Advanced knowledge in principles of refrigeration, heating, and air handling
- Knowledge and skill in hand tools and diagnostic equipment used in maintenance and repair
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as schematics, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedures manuals
- Additional knowledge and skill requirements may vary by assignment
Experience & Education
- Minimum six (6) years of experience in HVAC field or related area with at least two (2) years in a leadership role
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Expat: Trade certification in heating and air conditioning or proof of training/competency; EPA Section 608 Technician Certification Type(s) 1, 2, and/or 3 as required by duty assignment
- FN: Trade certification in heating and air conditioning; verifiable host country certification in Freon Recovery/Recycling
- Prefer Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical engineering
- Additional experience and education requirements may vary by assignment
Physical Requirements/Working Environment
- Living and working conditions at assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable
- Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions
- Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions
Travel
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally
Must have ability to obtain and maintain US security clearance at proper level
