(AFG-Kabul) AIRCRAFT MECHANIC INSTRUCTOR


SUMMARY


The Aircraft Mechanic Instructor develops curriculum and provides both classroom and on-the job (OJT) training for a variety of critical subject areas such as safety, aircraft engine and airframe technical instruction, and general operations procedures. The Instructor teaches one or more Orientation, Familiarization, and OJT courses relating to the International Program Cessna 208 aircraft and related systems to foreign military students. Primary duties involve training of foreign military students, although aircraft maintenance or other duties may be assigned when no classes are scheduled.


Courses may address refueling/defueling, oil and hydraulic fluids servicing, engine/prop servicing, gaseous oxygen system servicing, wheel & tire assembly changes, brake changes, all preflight, thru-flight, post-flight, quality assurance and daily inspection duties, and Go/No Go Limits. The incumbent instructs assigned topics in accordance with approved curriculum, effectively utilizing all allotted time, maintains proficiency in instructional techniques, incorporates current examples in the teaching process (e.g. develops clarification or real world examples of application related to the subject matter); develops and maintains classroom techniques that reflect professionalism, good discipline and enhance teaching. The Training Instructor alternates teaching techniques in order to maintain high motivation and interest in the subject areas, administers grades, records and critiques examinations; prepares and administers remedial assignments, submits written recommendations to the Training Manager for curriculum updates to ensure consistency with changes and innovations in latest applicable publications or documents.


This position requires the incumbent to train Afghan students on the technical requirements for the C208 aircraft program. The Mechanic Instructor is


responsible for maintenance and familiarization training. Duties include developing, reviewing, and updating contract required courseware, and classroom instructions. Coordinating recurring and ongoing training for C208 Afghan personnel in technical skills and organizational requirements are additional responsibilities.

• Develop technical training curriculum from published data, hands on experience and best practices concepts.


• Develop, review, and update maintenance and familiarization courseware.


• Maintain currency on technical and regulatory changes on applicable aircraft fleet to ensure currency of training subject matter.


• Perform aircraft maintenance and OJT.


• Utilize multiple media in curriculum development and delivery including video, web based programs including Adobe and PowerPoint.


• Develop and maintain training records for all student personnel.


• Develop effective and challenging testing procedures to gauge knowledge, comprehension and retention.


• Develop practical and effective recurrent schedules and curriculum.


• Ensure all current safety issues are incorporated with normal training opportunities.


• Exhibit positive courteous behavior with students, customers, and coworkers.


• Assist coworkers and those in other departments to successfully perform job tasks and functions when


necessary.


• Follow all safety procedures and practices as established by the Company and regulatory bodies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


The following minimum qualifications have been identified by subject matter expert’s (SME’S) who have supervised this position or functioned in the position; they are based on job analysis information supplied by these SME’S. However, if a candidate believes he/she is qualified for the job although he/she does not have the minimum qualifications set forth below, he/she may request special consideration through substitution of related education and experience, demonstrating the ability to perform the essential functions of the position. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:


Graduation from a standard four (4) year high school or equivalent (GED) AND five (5) years of experience in work related to Aviation Maintenance.


Previous class room instruction and course development experience preferred. Experience in the training of foreign military students is a plus. Cessna 208 experience is desired.


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:


FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Certificate REQUIRED.


Ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance
