IAVA’s Program Division includes IAVA’s field and transition assistance programs teams, responsible for member engagement, community building, and leadership development, as well as supportive services for veterans and their families, including IAVA’s RRRP case management program and our education and employment initiatives. This position reports to the Field Director.
The Programs Intern Will:
- Learn how to build and maintain positive relationships with IAVA member veterans
- Have the opportunity to learn about and contribute to the improvement of veteran engagement systems
- Build the skills necessary to lead large and small-scale events and their logistical needs
- Gain firsthand experience in developing and implementing digital and offline programs
- Have opportunities to engage with representatives of top companies and leading organizations in the veterans space
- Represent IAVA at program events, as well as other relevant community events and conferences
- Maintain a pulse on the day-to-day needs and concerns of Iraq and Afghanistan veterans
- Conduct desk research and contribute to documents relevant to program strategy and planning
- Learn how to develop digital content (photo, video, social media) to build and promote the organization’s programs
- Assist with evaluating program impact through support of the creation of surveys and other assessment tools, as well as with data analysis and reports
