(AFG-KANDAHAR) Laundry Attendant

Job Summary

The Laundry Attendant tends laundering machines to clean articles such as rags, wiping cloths, filter cloths, bags, sacks, and work clothes.

Principal Accountabilities

(Typical duties include the following, although specific duties vary by assignment or contract.)

• Clean articles such as rags, wiping cloths, filter cloths, bags, sacks, and work clothes.


• Maintain clean and safe work environment. Duties may include working the laundry service desk dealing with heavy volume of laundry.


• Sorts dried articles according to identification number or type


• Folds and places item in appropriate storage bin


• Lubricates machines, mends torn articles, and sorts and counts articles to verify quantities on laundry lists.


• Attend service desk with heavy customer service


• Other duties as assigned

Knowledge & Skills

• Ability to follow directions.


• Basic communication and reading skills; ability to count and sort laundry items.


• Additional knowledge/skills may be required by contract or assignment

Experience & Education

• One (1) to two (2) years of relevant experience


• Additional experience/education may be required by contract or assignment

Physical Requirements/Working Environment

• Living and working conditions at the assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable.


• Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions.


• Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions.

Travel

• Typically not required within area of assignment
