Description:
The Initiative for Hygiene, Sanitation, and Nutrition ( IHSAN ) is a five – year project whose goal is to assisting the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan ( GIRoA ) , civil society organizations ( CSOs ) , and the private sector to carry out and scale up evidence – based nutrition and water, hygiene, and sanitation ( WASH ) interventions that will improve the nutritional status of women and children less than five years old . Specific project objectives include enhancing capacity to institutionalize nutrition programs, increasing adoption of optimal nutrition and hygiene behaviors at community and household levels; and increasing availability of nutrition, hygiene, and sanitation services and products increased . The project will focus on the 10 provinces with poorest nutritional indicators based on the 2014 national nutrition assessment . Recognizing that significant variations in health situations exist between districts and sub – districts in each province, we will promote improved nutrient intake and awareness and improved sanitation and hygiene practices by working with provincial health authorities and communities to strive toward improved coverage in priority areas .
Job Summary / Responsibilities:
TheM&E Officerwill be an FHI 360 employee working and placed at the IHSAN office in Kabul . S/hewill work with their equivalents among consortium partners to ensure accurate and timely completion and transmittal of routine project monitoring data, predominantly through site visits and report to the M&E Coordinator .
The responsibilities of the position include:
Conducts data collection and performs data entry, with preparation and sorting ofcollected information and identifying templates that need to be entered.
Ensures accuracy of entered data and ensures consistency and alignment with the existing data.
Assists in the review and verification of data generated ensuring that they are in line with the M&E reporting requirements.
Assists in the review of the results of data analysisto ensure that they are in line with the M&E framework.
Works closely with the M&E Coordinator in project monitoring and reporting and to provide guidance and support to partners as needed.
Provides training to partners as needed in the use of special FHI 360 tools.
Participates in quality improvement plans which focus on M&E.
Provides support to M&E Coordinator in the development and implementation of monitoring tools, which will include, but not be limited to, data collection, analysis and reporting on program indicators.
Supports the coordination and execution of activities such as organizing capacity building workshops to staff and partners, collecting and disseminating relevant information on monitoring, evaluation and research.
Assists in the preparation of progress quarterly M&E reports and uploads all approved M&E relevant reports into the online systems as required.
Travels when needed to coordinate, monitor and/or participate in related activities.
Assists with project research activities, such as translation and transcription, as needed.
Contributes to presentations in MS Word, Excel and/or Power Point formats.
Performs other related duties as assigned and agreed upon.
Qualifications:
Experience and Qualifications :
BA/BS in public health, management, public administration, social sciences, statistics or equivalent work experiences
Minimum 2 years of program monitoring experience,preferably in Hygiene, Sanitation, and Nutrition programs.
Working knowledge of concepts, practices and procedures with providing program support for Hygiene, Sanitary and Nutrition activities/projects is desired.
Experience in program monitoring and evaluation, data collection, and data management.
Excellent oral and written communication skills in Dari; Pashto fluency is highly desired.
Knowledge and experience in M&E and USAID reporting requirements is desired.
Excellent interpersonal and team work skills.
Competent in using Microsoft Office package, particularly, Word, Excel and Power Point and with experience using database and data analysis software.
Ability to analyze data for and correct errors and prepare reports.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and work with others effectively.
Ability to travel if needed.
Prior experience in a non-governmental organization(NGO)preferred.
