Description:
The Initiative for Hygiene, Sanitation, and Nutrition ( IHSAN ) is a five – year project whose goal is to assisting the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan ( GIRoA ) , civil society organizations ( CSOs ) , and the private sector to carry out and scale up evidence – based nutrition and water, hygiene, and sanitation ( WASH ) interventions that will improve the nutritional status of women and children less than five years old . Specific project objectives include enhancing capacity to institutionalize nutrition programs, increasing adoption of optimal nutrition and hygiene behaviors at community and household levels; and increasing availability of nutrition, hygiene, and sanitation services and products increased . The project will focus on the 10 provinces with poorest nutritional indicators based on the 2014 national nutrition assessment . Recognizing that significant variations in health situations exist between districts and sub – districts in each province, we will promote improved nutrient intake and awareness and improved sanitation and hygiene practices by working with provincial health authorities and communities to strive toward improved coverage in priority areas .
Job Summary / Responsibilities:
TheM&E Coordinatorwill be an FHI 360 employee working and placed at the IHSAN office in Kabul . S/he will work closely with the M&E Director and serve as the main liaison with the M&E partner, SRTRO, to ensure uniform data collection practices and complete and timely project data entry and dashboard maintenance for reporting.
Theresponsibilities of the position include:
Works with partners to assess M&E needs and priorities, develop and implement M&E strengthening plans, and monitor progress.
Provides follow-up guidance and support and organizes technical assistance to partners as needed for the strengthening of M&E systems and the use of M&E data for learning and improvement.
Ensures timely collection, review, analysis and submission of data and narrative reports and tracking of progress towards achievement of targets.
Ensures compliance with all reporting requirements.
Follows up for, prepares and submits progress reports for the assigned subprojects/activities and ensures timely submission of the reports.
Monitors progress and provides feedback to the project team on monthly work plans.
OrganizesM&E trainings and workshops, including development of materials, manuals and relevant tools for monitoring and reporting activities in the project.
Assists in developing and coordinating the workplan and budget development for monitoring activities.
Provides M&E support for implementing project quality improvement plans.
Provides professional guidance to the M&E officers.
Travels when needed to coordinate, monitor and/or participate in related activities.
Perform other related duties as assigned and agreed upon.
Qualifications:
Experience and Qualifications :
MPH/MSin public health, management, public administration, social sciences, statistics or equivalent work experiences
Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience in the design, implementation, and management of M&E systems,data collection and data management,preferably in Hygiene, Sanitation, and Nutrition programs.
Working knowledge of concepts, practices and procedures with providing program support for Hygiene, Sanitary and Nutrition activities/projects.
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Dari; Pashto fluency is highly desired.
Knowledge and experience in M&E and USAID reporting requirements.
Competent in using Microsoft Office package, particularly, Word, Excel and Power Pointand withsubstantive experience using database and data analysis software.
Ability to analyze and interpret data, identify errors and prepare reports.
Sensitivity to cultural differences and understanding of the local and ethical issues.
Ability to meet deadlines with strong attention to consistency, detail, and quality.
Excellent interpersonal and team work skills with ability to establish strong working relationships with colleagues from different organizations.
Ability to travel if needed.
