(AFG-KANDAHAR) Finance Specialist

Job Summary

The Finance Specialist performs general accounting functions and financial analysis for budgets and schedules.

Principal Accountabilities

(Typical duties include the following, although specific duties vary by assignment or contract.)

• Develop, oversee, and maintain financial records and files in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, corporate policies, procedures, and government regulations


• Perform general accounting activities


• Oversee financial analysis of budgets and schedules for business unit


• Interpret and formulate financial methods and procedures to support business unit goals


• Evaluate potential of investments, divestitures, and impact on general financial outlook


• Formulate and administer financial projections and preparation of cash flow forecast to ensure financial and operating reports accurately reflect business condition


• Coordinate, negotiate, and resolve financial compliance issues with various government agencies to ensure accurate interpretation of contract requirements


• Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of accounting that includes spreadsheets and relational databases programs for data processing techniques


• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills


• Prefer working knowledge of US government accounting practices


• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software including Word and Excel


• Additional knowledge/skills may be required by contract or assignment

Experience & Education

• Minimum two (2) years of experience in accounting, finance, or related field


• High School Diploma or equivalent


• Prefer formal training and six (6) hours of credit in accounting principles


• Additional experience/education may be required by contract or assignment

Physical Requirements/Working Environment

• Living and working conditions at assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable


• Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions


• Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions

Travel

• Ability to travel domestically and internationally
