Equipment Operator
Job Description Under direct supervision, operates several types of power construction equipment, such as shovels, tractors, scrapers, or motor graders, bulldozers, and backhoes to excavate, move, and grade soils. Turns valves to control air and water output of compressors and pumps. Adjusts hand-wheels and depresses pedals to drive machines and control attachments, such as blades, buckets, scrapers, and swing booms. Repairs and maintains equipment.
Demonstrates ability to read, understand and apply engineering drawings. Follows instructions and meet set standards; judges distance and slopes accurately; and makes decisions based on verifiable standards.
Basic Job Requirements High school diploma or GED equivalent and 3 years of directly related experience is required. A valid driver’s / operator’s license is required.
Other Job Requirements Demonstrates ability to read, understand and apply engineering drawings. Follows instructions and meet set standards; Judges distance and slopes accurately; and makes decisions based on verifiable standards. Physically, workers must be able to: stoop, bend, and crouch; use hands, arms, and legs fully; see well (either naturally or with correction); and lift up to 50 pounds, with frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications Prior Military and/or Contingency Operations experience preferred.
