(AFG-Bagram) Senior Machinist - Technician

This position works with the lead engineer to create solutions for the Warfighter in a rapid prototyping environment based in Bagram Afghanistan. his position will provide technical and operational support for a mobile manufacturing laboratory to assist in the rapid design, prototype, and production solutions for electrical and mechanical systems. This position includes prototyping, limited production of solutions, CNC machining, 3-D printing, use of hand and shop tools, welding and soldering.
- Job Duties and Responsibilities:*
• Candidate shall have the ability to produce complex modified COTS/GOTS machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) mill while maintaining quality and safety standards, keeping specific records of project data, and maintaining all equipment and supplies as well as the following qualifications:
• Demonstrated past performance of rapid fabrication of solutions, training, spiral technology of modified COTS/GOTS, technology design and integration, limited production, and sustainment and transition of technology solutions in OEF/OIF.
• Ability to transfer information from verbal requests, rough sketches, or data from part drawings to complete products of a high degree of complexity and high quality.
• Ability to assist the Mechanical or Electrical Engineer/Scientist in the day to day operations of the lab for rapid project completion utilizing equipment such as; 3D printers (Fortus 250mc and Fortus 400mc), computer-aided design (CAD) software such as Solidworks and Matlab, welder, soldering station,and common Machine shop tools/skills defined below.
- Desired Skills and Additional requirements:*
• Associates Degree with Minimum five (5) years of related work Experience and Machinist able to produce complex modified COTS/GOTS machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) mill while maintaining quality and safety standards, keeping specific records of project data, and maintaining all equipment and supplies, or High School Diploma or GED PLUS 7 years’ experience directly realted to duties and responsibilities specified
• Machinist able to produce complex modified COTS/GOTS machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) mill while maintaining quality and safety standards, keeping specific records of project data, and maintaining all equipment and supplies
• CNC Milling skills
• CAD software (Solidworks preferred)
• CAM Software (GibbsCam preferred)
• 3D printing
• TIG/MIG welding, plasma cutter
• soldering, wire splicing
• Experienced with common machine shop and hand tools such as lathe, drill press, band saw, angle grinders, etc…
• Stock management
• Demonstrated experience in fabrication processes
• Must be able to lift heavy objects, up to 50 lbs
• Must be able to hike on mountain sides
• Must be able to conduct rigorous physical work indoors and outside in extreme temperatures
• Works independently with little guidance
• Able to work in close quarters in a small team Must be able to represent The Customer set and ManTech in a professional manner
• Must be able to thrive professionally in austere environments.
• Candidate may be required to fulfill other duties and obligations associated with the contract.
- Other requirements comments:*
Candidate must be willing to work and live in U.S. Military Bases and travel between U.S. Bases by Military AIR or Force Protected convoy. Past military experience highly desirable. Overseas work in the South West Asia will be compensated including hardship, hazardous differentials and bonus pay. U.S. DOD SECRET security clearance is required. Candidate must possess a valid US drivers license and US passport. Candidate must meet all physical, medical and other requirements for overseas deployment in accordance with current DoD regulations.This position is in a TDY
status in SWA; candidate may be required to fulfill other duties and obligations associated with the contract and may be reassigned from one U.S. Military Base to another based on the needs of the contract.

Candidate may be required to fulfill other duties and obligations associated with the contract. This position may require long term deployment or short term travel to any country that contains an elevated sensor system. The successful candidate must be willing and capable of living and working in any current or future country that is supported by the program. This position is subject to changes in duty location as determined by the ManTech Program Manager and as required by the mission.
