(AFG) Design Engineer 3 (Sensor Operator II) BD OCONUS
The Sensor Operator performs flight crew functions in support of customer requirements aboard company and government owned Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance aircraft. All duties will be performed using applicable company, program, and customer guidance. This guidance shall include but not be limited to the L-3 Aircrew Training Manual, specific Site and customer Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTP). Follow checklists, perform basic mission planning while maintaining a good working knowledge of aircraft operating limitations, safety protocols and assists aircraft pilots as required to support aircraft safety of flight. The Sensor Operator is responsible for real-time collection of electro-optic / infrared (E/O-IR) full motion video (FMV); uses analytical ability to interpret imagery; applies strong communication skills to write and record precise information; exercises strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to accurately interface with military and civilian customers as well as contractors and aircrew; utilizes complete knowledge of computer operations and applications. Plan and successfully execute mission planning with aircrew members using available intelligence and company documentation. The sensor operator monitors, operates, and troubleshoots tactical radios and mission systems to scan, detect, identify, and report threats and Essential Elements of Information (EEI) in accordance with mission task while ensuring adequate connectivity for communications and data relay. Maintain uninterrupted support while retaining full situational awareness and control of all mission tasks and aircraft equipment in support of high priority, time-sensitive, infallible customer requirements. Maintain FAA Class II currency and attend additional recurrent training as required. Must work any assigned shift or schedule, including mission support outside normal duty hours and must travel as required to support company and customer requirements.
Qualified candidates have extensive experience in ground operations, assault force TTP’s, Close Air Support (CAS) and real-time tactical radio communications; ability to work both independently and in a team environment. Sensor Operators must exhibit the ability to learn and perform “on-the-fly” due to the dynamic nature of the mission and must be familiar with theater tactical Standard Operating Procedures and Rules of Engagement as directed by the customer. The candidate must be able to demonstrate the ability to multitask in high stress situations/environments; experience as a sensor operator supporting special operations forces or previous related military experience in a special operation force (SOF) environment is desired. Aircraft, Equipment, and applicable military training courses and experience are also preferred. Knowledge of EO/IR sensor systems, aircraft survivability/emergency equipment, Crew Resource Management (CRM) principles, basic computer/network operations and proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office products are required. Related military/ contractor experience, Sensor Operator experience, and aircrew experience highly preferred. Examples of related experience would be but not limited to, Combat Controller (CCT), AC-130 Sensor Operator/Fire Control Officer, P-3/P-8 Sensor Operator, ISR Sensor Operator, JTAC, Airborne Mission Systems Operator or former special operations combat career field. Three(3) to Five (5) years of directly related tactical ground experience, SOF experience and/or sensor operator experience is desirable. Candidates must have the ability to be medically cleared to deploy with no restrictions to remote locations outside of the continental USA with limited access to healthcare.
