Government AECOM’s Global Support Services (GSS) organization resides within AECOM’s Government business line and is comprised of three divisions — International Development, Operations and Mission Support, and Global Programs. GSS has the international presence, personnel networks and procurement infrastructure to deliver support for any mission, anywhere. We optimize the reliability, availability and sustainability of equipment, logistics systems and facilities for clients around the world. GSS supports the U.S. Government, non-U.S. Governments and industry clients with worldwide program management, planning, design, operations and maintenance, logistics, aviation services, security, international development, environmental and civil engineering and mission and intelligence support.
AECOM has an exciting opportunity in Afghanistan on the MOSC-A contract for an Radiation Safety Officer. The Officer designs procedures for handling, using or transporting radioactive materials. Inspects equipment and storage facilities and develops decontamination and emergency exposure plans. Establishes administrative controls, procedures, recordkeeping, material controls and an accounting and management review to ensure safe operations. Maintains records for the Radiation Safety Program to include incidents of radiation exposure, receipt of materials and disposal of materials. Periodically inspect the delivery, storage and disposal of all radioactive materials or equipment. Trains personnel in the safe use of radioactive materials and storage. Conduct wipe test / swab testing base on the ISO type Ensure full compliance with DOD, Federal, and local regulations concerning radiation regulations. Ensure strict compliance to safety practices and support the AC FIRST Safety Policies and Procedures. Instills a safety first mentality within respective work areas and a culture that achieves low accident rates and minimal lost-time injuries. Adhere to ISO Policies, Procedures, and Work Instructions in support of the AC FIRST Quality Management System. Must be readily available to give advice and assistance in radiological safety matters. Responds to emergency situations in a timely manner. Assist in the day-to-day safety task at the work center to ensure proper wearing on PPE and adherence to safety policies.Conducts safety inspections and observations of assigned work centers Ensure all significant near misses, injuries and safety events are investigated and root causes identified. Performs other duties as assigned.
Work experience may be substituted for educational requirements and/or educational achievements may be substituted for years of experience. Example: Two (2) years of experience is equivalent to (2) years of college and vice versa.
Secret Security Clearance, is required.
Three years of job related experience in radiation safety, is required.
Advanced knowledge of health and safety related disciplines that are appropriate for this position, is required.
Working knowledge of office practices and methods.
Ability to coordinate work with other employees, providing direct instruction or supervision as assigned.
Ability to prepare and analyze complex reports.
Ability to organize work effectively, conceptualize and prioritize objectives and exercise independent judgment based on an understanding of organizational policies and activities.
Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with staff and other agencies.
Must have good communications skills, both oral and written.
Bachelor’s degree Health Sciences, Physics or related field preferred
