This role is responsible for management of DRR, Resilience, and Climate change adaptation projects and attainment of humanitarian mandate of ActionAid Afghanistan, providing technical support and advice to the effective design, management and implementation of disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation projects and humanitarian actions in Action Aid Afghanistan. As an advisor, the role helps strengthen the management and implementation of DRR, Resilience and Humanitarian interventions within the selected most vulnerable communities in improving communities resilience to multiple disasters and shocks as well as assisting and coordinating humanitarian responses in advent of any disasters
Requirement
The candidate must hold a post graduate degree in social sciences, development studies or a development related field. A minimum of 7 years’ experience in management of DRR/resilience projects with International NGOs, of which three years must be in a senior donor funded project management position from a reputable organization, preferably an NGO is required. Proven track records of project management experience in social mobilisation, multiple partnerships and DRR, resilience and humanitarian response and experience working in Afghanistan is an asset.
Candidates should be familiar with international DRR and humanitarian instruments. Other key requirements include but not limited to the following:
Thorough understanding of development partners, donor institutions, government agencies and the not-for-profit sector in the country
Good Knowledge of international donor and agencies
Deep understanding of reporting requirements of major Bi-lateral Aid Agencies
Leadership and project management skills
Excellent presentation, communications, and negotiation skills
Report writing skills
Planning, organisation, time management, and coordination
Fluency in written and spoken English and native / local national language will be an advantage
