(AFG-KABUL) Chief Engineer
Job Summary
The chief engineer is responsible for maintaining the property in a safe, attractive, comfortable condition and in accordance with the program objectives
Principal Accountabilities
(Typical duties include the following, although specific duties vary by assignment or contract)
- Carry out research and development activities involving pioneering work of outstanding scope, difficulty and complexity.
- Conceive plans and conduct projects considered to be of primary importance in achieving new concepts, configurations, and performance characteristics.
- Responsible for complete research and development programs that are sufficiently complex they frequently must be further divided into manageable segments
- Responsible for the planning, programming, and execution management of numerous developmental projects needed to satisfy operationally valid mission requirements
- Select items needed, including complete systems and repair parts, and develop specifications for out-of-production and unique spare parts.
- Use technical insight to find practical solutions to problems that cross lines of technology, satisfy multiple constraints, and meet a variety of goals.
- Select most promising solutions through experimentation, demonstrations, and tests
- Other duties as required
Knowledge & Skills
- Certifications in Equipment Operations & either Association for Facilities Engineers (AFE) as a CPE, United State Coast Guard Third Assistant Engineer License, of Steam, Motor, or Gas Turbine vessels of any horsepower, or a U.S. State Stationary Engineers License
- Must possess a Top Secret Clearance
- Must have the ability to identify process and work flow improvements.
- Strong leadership, alignment and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to exercise a very high degree of initiative and independent judgment in performing duties.
- Proven track record of delivering results on schedule
- Possesses expertise in determining short-term, mid-term, and long-term impacts of new concepts, new systems, and components as they relate to military requirements.
- Work is often on systems and concepts that may be precedent setting and requires innovative and creative interpretations and adaptations
Experience & Education
- Bachelor of Science in an Engineering field is required. Master’s degree is a distinct advantage.
- 5 or more years’ supervisory experience in physical plant and building operations including power plants for large facilities
Physical Requirements/Working Environment
- OCONUS:
- Some positions will be assigned to overseas locations where living and working conditions at assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable, with long hours, exposure to weather, dust, and hazardous/harsh conditions
