(AFG-KANDAHAR) Fire Inspector Lead
Job Summary
The Lead Fire Inspector performs a variety of supervisory, technical, and administrative work in the supervision and administration of fire suppression, emergency medical service, hazardous materials, and fire prevention activities of the fire department.
Principal Accountabilities
- Supervise overall fire inspection activities process and scheduling for subordinate fire inspectors
- Gather and organize inspection data of subordinate fire inspectors and area of responsibility
- Identify and address fire prevention concerns for assigned area of responsibility and program them for correction
- Investigate complaints and answer questions regarding fire hazards and the violation of fire safety regulations
- Augment fire prevention inspection process by conducting a specified percent (such as 20 percent) of inspections in assigned area of responsibility
- Participate in fire drills and classes
- Assist in preparing and maintaining required documentation and reports
- Become familiar with applicable host nation and military environmental regulations
- Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge & Skills
- Must fluently read, write, speak, and understand English in order to read, interpret, and explain codes, plans, specifications, blueprints, determine noncompliance, and provide training
- Excellent leadership, management, and organizational skills
- Advanced working knowledge of fire protection and prevention methods, rescue procedures, and safety procedures
- Knowledge of NFPA, DODI, OSHA, and UFC standards, criterion, and hydraulics as they apply to DOD contingency operations and fire prevention code enforcement.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Experience & Education
- Minimum five (5) proven years of experience in fire emergency services as a fire inspector
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- DOD, IFSAC, or National Pro-Board Certifications as Fire Officer II, Fire Inspector II, Fire Instructor II
Physical Requirements/Working Environment
- Living and working conditions at assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable
- Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions
- Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions
Travel
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally
Must have ability to obtain and maintain US security clearance at proper level
