(AFG-Bagram) Facility Engineer


Job Description


Facility Engineer for a forward deployed Signal Battalion in Afghanistan. Provides facility engineering support to resolve difficult facilities engineering problems and issues, engaging in planning and designing new construction, sustainment, renovation and improvement projects for real property facilities, encompassing highly specialized or unique communication facility requirements. In addition, design, troubleshoot, and make recommendations for communication facilities heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), and fuel systems.


a. Develop and review architectural and engineering PWSs and management plans for assigned projects.


b. Perform site surveys.


c. Assist with the timely resolution of equipment outages.


d. Assist with routine facility management.


e. Prepare project cost estimates.


f. Prepare and review project time schedules.


g. Analyze project proposals, providing technical review of design calculations, analyses, drawings and specifications to ensure compliance with project objectives and standards.


h. Provide input to the KO, COR or their designated representatives during construction contract negotiation and administration of the resulting contract.


i. Coordinate all design phases with the appropriate managers, engineers, and staff elements.


j. Maintain current engineering data and milestones for assigned projects.


k. Participate in meetings with contractors and project sponsors.


l. Develop inspection, maintenance and repair standards.


m. Recommend new infrastructure equipment installations and modification to facilities to accommodate new communications equipment in support of mission requirements and reflective of new technologies.


n. Evaluate programs and projects to assure compliance with all environmental, energy use, safety and security standards.


Education


Masters Degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline and work experience.


Qualifications


8-10 years of related engineering experience.


Good physical condition due to moderate lifting. Travel throughout the AOR may be required
