(AFG-KANDAHAR) Stores Technician

Job Summary

Full time position performing preventive maintenance and repairs in the interior and exterior of stores including roof.

Principal Accountabilities

• Utilize knowledge of mechanical, carpentry, plumbing and general maintenance skills to identify and correct store’s maintenance problems


• Manage local vendor relationships


• Ensure store maintains a clean and safe environment


• Manage expenses within guidelines


• Perform under the guidance of a supervisor

Knowledge & Skills

• Working knowledge of mechanical, carpentry, plumbing and general maintenance skills.


• Ability to comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos and ask clarifying questions to ensure understanding.


• Ability to write simple correspondence.


• Ability to effectively present information to coworkers and/or supervisors on a one-on-one basis.


• Ability to understand and carry out general instructions in standard situations.


• Ability to solve problems in standard situations.


• Requires basic analytical skills.


• Must be able to use a PC for reviewing e-mail and accessing the Internet to order materials.

Experience & Education

• High school diploma or equivalent.


• Typically, a minimum of one (1) year of store technician experience.

Physical Requirements/Working Environment

• Living and working conditions at the assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable.


• Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions.


• Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions.

Travel

• Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
