Job Title Waste Water Technician

Job Description Under direct supervision, operates sewage treatment, sludge processing, and disposal equipment in wastewater treatment plant or ponds to control flow and processing of sewage. Responsible for monitoring controls and adjusts valves and gates manually or by remote control to regulate sewage flow. Observes condition variations and interprets readings and tests results to determine load requirements. Starts and stops pumps, engines, and generators to control flow of raw sewage through filtering, settling, aeration, and sludge digestion processes. Maintains logs of operations and records meter and gauge readings. May collect sewage sample, using dipper or bottle and conduct laboratory tests, using testing equipment, such as colorimeter.

Basic Job Requirements High school diploma / GED equivalent, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, and

three (3) years related experience.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Previous municipal employment in a wastewater plant or military training in wastewater treatment. Wastewater Operators Certificate of Competency issued by a state regulatory agency,

Other Job Requirements Position may be located in a war zone in a contingency environment with harsh and dangerous working and living conditions, including lifting and carrying 25 pounds of personal protective equipment for extended periods of time. To ensure safety, health and security measures within the contract are met, all employees shall be literate in English (read, write, speak and understand) or have a translator available.
