Medical Assistant - SOC - Hawthorne, NV





This position is for the SOC Occupational Health Clinic for the Hawthorne Army Depot in Hawthorne Nevada We would also like to invite you to Google information about Hawthorne and Hawthorne Army Depot. Below you will find a few facts that I have listed for your convenience. Hawthorne Army Depot is the largest ammunition storage facility in the world. SOC Nevada LLC does not deploy overseas. Hawthorne Nevada is a one mile square town with a population of about 3,500 people. The nearest major shopping facility (Walmart) is about 75 miles away in Fallon Nevada. The closest major city (Reno NV) is located about 2.5 driving hours away. Las Vegas Nevada is located about 5 driving hours away. Our climate compares to that of Afghanistan (dry desert) but the temperatures are not as extreme.

There are many opportunities in our area for outdoor recreation. Yosemite National Park, Mammoth Lakes Ski Resort, and many back-roads for hiking, biking, fishing, ATV/UTV travel are a few of the amenities right out our back door. Hawthorne is a patriotic and peaceful town.

Responsibilities:
Performance of physical examinations, to include but not limited to phlebotomy, audiometry, EKGs, spirometry, vitals, blood pressure, pulse, o2 stats, BMI of employees and others eligible for clinic services.

Provide minor first aid, such as caring for minor cuts, abrasions, lacerations, and burns; recognizing and administering first aid for shock, heat stroke, and hysteria. Facilitates higher level of medical care in emergency situations.

Maintain employee health history documentation

Administer immunization and documentation

Administer oxygen

Understand and follow HIPPA

Conducts assessments and evaluations of injury or ailment. Advise management, Supervising Physician, private physician, or the employee about the circumstances of the injury. Furnish medical history as appropriate.

Assists in the scheduling of examinations, treatment, or return to work. Secure ambulance services for injured or ill employees, as required.

Assist in completing the Clinic’s portion of accident record forms.

Performs evidential breath tests and urine/saliva collections for drug & alcohol program

Trains medical surveillance and drug &alcohol related topics to employees.

Operate a computer connected terminal device and desktop publishing program on a and desktop publishing program.

Establish and maintain databases for medical and alcohol/drug testing purposes.

Responsible for reporting potential or real environmental concerns to the Environmental Service.

Should be able to obtain and maintain a valid State drivers license unless physically unqualified to obtain such a license.

Perform other duties of the same or lower level of difficulty as assigned.

Show awareness and support of the Company Ethics Program.

Qualifications:
EDUCATION: Maintain National MA certification or equivalent. Applicant must be able to be certified in any facet of clinic operations and have basic knowledge of pulmonary function testing, hearing test, vision screening and electrocardiogram.


EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years experience in Industrial Clinic Operations or in an outpatient environment.
