(AFG-KABUL) R/W Mechanic


Job Summary


The Rotary Wing Mechanic works closely with other mechanics and maintenance personnel on aircraft and aircraft engine services, repairs and overhauls ensuring that all work is done according to prescribed maintenance manuals, service bulletins, company policy and government regulations.


Principal Accountabilities


  • Performs many of the following responsibilities as they pertain to assigned programs:

  • Reports on work order status to the Lead Mechanic.

  • Ensures that all tools and associated equipment are 100% accounted for.

  • Reads and interprets manufacturers’ maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.

  • Performs miscellaneous services on aircraft fleet including daily and periodic inspections to include flushing oil systems, cleaning screens, greasing various moving parts and washing aircraft.

  • Assists in preparing aircraft for pre-flight inspection and tying aircraft down after post flight inspection is complete.

  • Responds to work orders in a timely manner with emphasis on operations support.

  • Able to communicate effectively and work well as a member of a team; assists with other duties as required to support the customer and mission.

  • Works to help meet a minimum 80% Fleet Operational Readiness Rate.

  • Conducts oneself professionally through appearance and conduct.

  • All other duties as assigned.

Knowledge & Skills


  • Current FAA Airframe Technician and A&P; mechanic licenses.

  • Ability to communicate fluently in the English language.

  • May be required to respond to a wide variety of operational circumstances, including working in extreme weather conditions and rudimentary infrastructure.

  • Basic knowledge of various computer applications such as Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Excel, Word, Power Point, and Outlook).

Experience & Education


Education:


  • High School Diploma.

  • Associates Degree preferred.

Experience:


  • Minimum of five (5) years as a licensed FAA Airframe and Power Plant (A&P;) aircraft mechanic with experience on helicopter and/or fixed wing aircraft and associated sub systems.

  • One (1) year full-time field service in the last 3 years.

  • Experience in reading, comprehending, and interpreting technical documents; including manuals, technical data and schematics.

  • One (1) year experience maintaining MI-8/17 aircraft in either the OEF or OIF theatres of operations preferred.

Physical Requirements/Working Environment


  • Must be able to withstand extreme temperatures and environments while working in field conditions.Must be able to lift 90 pounds to waist level and 75 pounds to shoulder height.

Travel


  • Must be able to travel to and between remote location(s) in austere or inhospitable high stress environments, and work with minimal direct supervision.

LM Functional Job Title: OJT Trainer (Mechanic), SMW* (OEM Cert required).


Minimum of 4 years’ experience maintaining M-8/Mi-17 Aircraft. Must have A&P; License or equivalent. Must have OEM Certification.
