Carpenter Journeyman

Job Description Specific Job Duty & Requirements

Performs multiple aspects of applied carpentry in the maintenance or construction of camp facilities.Designs, builds,and/or modifies items of various materials such as wood, plastic laminate, etc. Items include cabinets, furniture,countertops, shelving, fixtures, etc.Maintains integrity of facility infrastructure as related to carpentry by repairing and/or modifying doors, ceilings, floors and walls. Constructs, installs, and repairs wooden structures and fixtures.Examines blueprints ands determines dimensions of structure. Selects materials and structural units, such as lumber, prefabricated doors, and cabinets of wood or plastic, and paneling,and inspects them to ensure conformance with provisions of building code,localordinance,or work orders.

Determines sequence of activities concerned with fabrication, assembly, and erection of structure. Assigns subcontractors and/or labor broker personnel to

various tasks, including cutting material to size,building concrete forms, erecting wooden framework, and laying flooring.Inspects work performed by subcontractors and/or labor brokers, including wood structures, wood framing, stair and rail framing concrete form work, wood foundations, etc., to ensure conformance with specifications. Installs doors,builds stairs,and lays hardwood floors. May build timber structures and supports for concrete forms.

May supervise a team of employees, subcontractor and/or labor broker personnel, in accordance with the “General Supervisory Duties and Responsibilities” addendum.

Position may be located in a war zone in a contingency environment with harsh and dangerous working and living conditions, including lifting and carrying 40 pounds of personal protective equipment for extended periods of time. To ensure safety, health, and security measures within the contract are met, all employees shall be literate in English (read, write, speak and understand).

Basic Job Requirements High school diploma / GED equivalent is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, and 3.5 years directly related experience is required.

Preferred Qualifications Prior Military and/or Contingency Operations experience preferred.
