(AFG-Bagram) Field Service Technician - Intermediate


To provide Operations and Sustainment (O&S) support to include the Persistent Threat Detection System (PTDS) Operators/User-Level Maintainers, sustainment, logistics support, and engineering and integration support for PTDS and PGSS in Afghanistan.


PTDS is a Quick Reaction Capability (QRC) that provides integrated persistent surveillance, detection capabilities, and Full Motion Video (FMV) dissemination to Tactical Operation Centers (TOC). PTDS integrates different sensors, some of which are located on its airborne aerostat, to detect small arms fires and Counter Improvised Explosive Device (IED)

activity near airfields, fixed-base encampments, forward operating locations, and other facilities in support of rapid reaction security forces in the area of operation.


Job Duties and Responsibilities:


The technician of this position will utilize existing knowledge and experience and apply a variety of skills to maintain complex electro-mechanical systems and equipment used to produce and support electrical generated power.

The technician must be capable of solving complex problems involving troubleshooting and repair of diesel generator sets while working independently. Must be able to rebuild and recondition components common to electrical power. Technician will repair/ overhaul starters, alternators, generators, fuel injectors, voltage regulators, switches, control circuits, etc. Additionally will be responsible for the proper HAZMAT procedures in dealing with used oils, fuels, antifreeze, and batteries.


Must be capable of performing analyses of system operations.


Must have knowledge of and experience in the operations of hardware systems and components.

Must have experience in fault detection, isolation, and correction of hardware systems and individual components.

Must be capable of routine system maintenance and analysis functions including: hardware configurations; adding, removing and replacing hardware components; use of hardware and software diagnostic testing tools; reading of electronic circuit schematics; and repairing printed circuit boards.


Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:


5kW – 15kW TQG experience required. Prefer experience on a host of military generator/ power generation systems

Will be the only generator technician/ SME for this team.

Opportunity to work as a member of a maintenance support (fly-away) team covering 5 different countries independently.

Will TDY to other countries/locations as needed.

Deployed position, one year in Kawait

Must be capable of living in an austere environment

Prior direct military service is a plus


Qualifications:


• Intermediate: Position requires 7 years of direct relevant technical experience or AA or 2 year technical school and 3 years direct experience may be substituted for education


Other requirements, comments:


Position is deployed to South West Asia in support of an electronic/electro-mechanical, optic sensor surveillance system.


Candidate must be willing to work and live in U.S. Military Bases. Past military experience highly desirable. Overseas work in the South West Asia will be compensated including hardship, hazardous differentials and bonus pay. U.S. DOD SECRET security clearance is required. Candidate must possess a valid US drivers license and US passport. Candidate must meet all physical, medical and other requirements for overseas deployment in accordance with current DoD regulations.This position is in a TDY status in SWA; reassignment from one U.S. Military Base to another may be required based on the needs of the contract.
