Textron Systems’ businesses consist of Advanced Information Solutions, Electronic Systems, Geospatial Solutions, Lycoming Engines, Marine & Land Systems, Support Solutions, Unmanned Systems, Weapon & Sensor Systems and TRU Simulation Training.The field service technician role will perform 2 major functions – 1st organizational up to Depot level maintenance on Mobile Strike Force Vehicle (MSFV) – an updated version of armored security vehicles (ASV) OCONUS and 2nd maintenance record keeping both at the Unit Level assisting with the Prescribed Load List (PLL) and at the Depot level working with the Authorized Stockage List (ASL). Will be responsible for maintaining the MSFV fleet that has been issued to the Afghanistan National Army (ANA) as well as providing On The Job Training (OJT) to foreign technicians (Afghan Mechanics and Supply Clerks) from a developed training curriculum. Performs upgrades and installs modification kits per manufacturer’s direction. Must be willing to deploy to Afghanistan.


Responsibilities:

Provides on-the-job training and classroom instruction to the Afghan National Army mechanics/supply clerks.

Works with an Afghani interpreter to provide training.

Performs installation, operation, and maintenance on the MSFV, related equipment, integrated systems, and subsystems.

Troubleshoots, analyzes and determines necessary repairs up to Depot level on the MSFV and takes corrective actions.

Be familiar with and worked with Depot level Engine rebuild (preferred knowledge of the Cummins Engine and Allison transmissions).

Knowledge and experience with removal, replacement and repair ofengines: power packs, mounts, assemblies, cylinder heads, crankshafts, fuel systems: turbochargers, tanks, cooling system: radiators, thermostats, fan clutches, electrical systems:alternators, starters, gauges, harnesses, transmission: planetary gears, assemblies, transfer assemblies, front and rear axles, brakes, steering, doors, hull, winch system, hydraulics, air conditioning, turret components: basket assembly, hatch, traverse mechanism, .50 cal cradle, mantle, sighting.

And /or

Be familiar with the manual version of TAMMS (The Army Maintenance Management System).

PLL management: receiving and issuing repair parts, stockage and maintaining applicable paperwork- manually.

ASL management: receiving and issuing repair parts, stockage and maintaining applicable paperwork- manually.

Preferred working knowledge of CORE IMS.

Performs preventive maintenance on a routine basis.

Performs general logistics functions.

Practices ISO 9001 principles and concepts.

Performs general housecleaning in work area and ASV’s as required.

Produces written reports and electronic data reports as required.

Other duties as required.


Position/Environment Details:

This position is subject to a variety of physical and atmospheric conditions.

This position is subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions.

This position will require the use of personal protective equipment including body armor and a helmet.

This position will require climbing in, over, and under the MSFV in tight spaces. Must be able to fit through the MSFV hatch with body armor on.

This position is subject to working conditions peculiar to the particular assignment (e.g., required to perform work-related travel worldwide and accompany DoD forces into hardship and combat areas).

This position will travel in coalition convoy twice daily to the Afghan Training Area.

Employees may/will be required to share billeting space.

This position will be exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

This position is subject to noise. Employees may be required to participate in the hearing conservation program, which will require testing and wearing of hearing protection where necessary.

This position is subject to exposure to numerous oils.

Education & Experience:

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Typically requires six years of related experience with wheeled vehicles.

Requires the ability to live in austere conditions alongside International Security Forces in a war zone.

Military experience is desirable.

Technical school graduate or military service school desired.

Previous deployment to Iraq or Afghanistan is desirable.

Candidates must currently hold a secret clearance.
