(AFG-Kabul) Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Pilot


Raytheon Blackbird Technologies (RBT) is seeking part-time employees to work OCONUS as Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Pilots in support of U.S. Government contracts. The UAV Pilots support planning, coordination and execution of testing, training, and operational missions. They must safely and effectively operate ground control stations (GCS), payload control stations (PCS) and perform all necessary system maintenance while serving as Mission Commander, Air Vehicle Operator and/or External Pilot, in accordance with established operating procedures. Personnel must be self-motivated and able to multi-task efficiently, while working in a fast- paced environment.


Responsibilities:


Duties While Deployed:


  • Plan and execute UAV missions and assist with various administrative tasks

  • Conduct UAV system testing, demonstrations, training and maintenance

  • Provide performance related feedback to enable system improvements and advances

  • Provide technical advice and employment recommendations to the supported customer


  • Configure UAV equipment and sensor payloads to meet mission requirements

    Duties While CONUS:




  • Assist in conducting classes for new personnel as an assistant instructor (possible)




  • Assist with flight and equipment testing (possible)




  • Perform currency flights and pre-deployment training



Travel:


  • Expected OCONUS travel of 120 days per deployment – must be flexible to more or less travel as required to meet unforeseen operational changes

  • CONUS initial, sustainment, and refresher training is required; length will vary depending on requirements


  • Transportation at deployed locations is provided by the US militia

    Required Skills:




  • Secret security clearance



  • Complete and maintain an FAA Second-Class Airman Medical Certificate

  • Complete DoD pre-deployment requirements to include, medical and dental screenings and immunizations

  • 4+ years of experience with operations and employment of unmanned aerial systems and payloads

  • Bachelor’s degree in the aviation field (i.e. Aeronautics, Aeronautical Engineering, Aviation Management); related work experience may be substituted in lieu of degree

  • Experience and proficiency with basic Pilot/ATC phraseology

  • Excellent planning skills, including flight operations and airspace de-confliction

  • Experience with aviation safety rules and procedures

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Combat zone deployment experience (military, GS or contractor)

  • Able to lift and carry equipment weighing in excess of 50 lbs.

  • Physically fit and able to live in remote, austere conditions for extended periods

  • Ability to travel independently and operate for extended periods without supervision


  • Proficient with MS Office applications including, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook software

    Desired Skills:




  • Experienced Special Operations Operator



  • 10 years of military, government or government contracting experience

  • FAA rated commercial or private pilot

  • Experience as a Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC)

  • Experienced with radio controlled aircraft and Piccolo-based UAVs
