Job Description:
The IT Specialist will develop and maintain scalable and highly available SharePoint and network services in a contingency environment, with temperatures often exceeding 120 degrees Fahrenheit, within and under buildings, buried and aerial, within a compressed timeline and budget.
Required Hours:
Work may include nights, holidays, and weekends on short notice. Standard hours are determined by the contract and could range from 50 – 72 hours weekly while at an OCONUS work site(s) and a standard 40 hour work week while at CONUS work sites.
Responsibilities:
The IT Specialist shall be responsible for the following:
* Develop and maintain information systems for users at multiple locations, maintaining a high level of availability.
* Develop and maintain current knowledge of all pertinent existing guidelines and regulations provided by the Department of Defense and United States Army relating to information systems.
* Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all things related to information technology as needed by the organization.
* Develop and maintain expert level knowledge of Microsoft operating systems (OS) to include Windows 7, SCCM 2012, Server 2008, and Server 2012 products.
* Subject Matter Expert on all aspects of the Microsoft Office Suite, Symantec Antivirus, and Ghost to support installation users with help and assistance.
* Install and maintain Voice of Internet Protocol (VoiP) services and devices for business use which do not interfere with current bandwidth or ability to conduct business.
* Research and develop a working knowledge of current and future recourses necessary for the enhancement/ improvement of current systems, networks and procedure.
* Work closely with Local and Third Party Nationals to facilitate the maintenance and expansion of current and future computer/data networks and services.
Location – ( could be various locations in Afghanistan)
Required Qualifications:
* Must have at least 4 years of related work experience
* Must have advanced certifications in SharePoint Design and Management.
* Understanding of Web development, systems administration and Oracle administration is a plus.
* Have a fundamental knowledge of computer hardware and software and network operations.
* Ability to take a system approach to a customer’s problem
* Possess writing, speaking, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
* Familiar with audio and video systems to maintain conference and briefing room sound and visual systems.
* Be detail-oriented with the ability to work under deadlines.
* Able to work closely with other team members and clients.
* Possess knowledge and technical experience in the use of all Microsoft Office and Collaboration products, Microsoft Internet Explorer, and Adobe Acrobat products.
* Hands-on experience with installing and troubleshooting Windows Operating Systems, laptops, desktops and printers
* Be willing to travel within USCENTCOM AOR.
Must be willing to work and live in Afghanistan.
* Must be willing to work in austere or harsh environments/conditions.
Must be willing travel MILAIR and wear protective clothing and equipment as required.
* In the conduct of their training contractors may encounter hostile forces.
* Must be able to obtain an interim DoD Secret security clearance prior to start
* Must be able to obtain a visa for Afghanistan
Physical Requirements/Working Environment:
* Must be willing to deploy and live to Afghanistan with an understanding that there could be further assignments to any location in Afghanistan based upon the needs of the U.S. Government, to include hostile and austere areas
* Must be willing and able to travel outside of protected areas via military convoys or MILAIR, and wear protective clothing and equipment as required. In the conduct of their training contractors may encounter hostile forces
* Must be able to attend and pass USG deployment requirements at CONUS Replacement Center (CRC), Fort Bliss, Texas or equivalent location. Must meet the medical requirements for the position being offered as determined by a pre-employment medical screening and in accordance with published CRC and USCENTCOM medical deployment standards. Must be able to walk or stand on level and/or inclined surfaces up to eight (8) hours per day and sit for up to three (3) hours per day, Also must be able to routinely climb / descend stairs
* Must be able to routinely grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbows / knees, and reach above / below shoulders. Must be able to read and interpret newspaper and typewritten print, and communicate by voice and detect sound by ear. Employee may be required to respond to a wide variety of operational circumstances, under extreme weather conditions, within a hostile environment
* The individual may be exposed to extreme noise from aircraft, hostile fire, and other acts of aggression associated with this region. Physical requirements include but not limited to the wear of body armor and helmet Personal Protective Gear, unassisted lifting and carrying of duffle bags not exceed the weight of 70 lbs per piece, and the unassisted movement over uneven terrain
Desired Qualifications:
* Prior military experience
* Trained in Six Sigma Methodology
* Knowledge of military training methodology
* Possess current DoD Secret security clearance eligibility
Required Education:
Must have a Bachelors degree in Information Technology and 4 years of related work experience. 8 years of equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of education requirement.
