AECOM’s Global Support Services (GSS) organization resides within AECOM’s Government business line and is comprised of three divisions — International Development, Operations and Mission Support, and Global Programs. Job Summary


AECOM has an exciting opportunity in Afghanistan on the MOSC-A contract for an Environmental Technician . The Technician Supports the HS&E program in the development, implementation, monitoring and continuous improvement of company Health, Safety, & Environmental programs, ensuring work centers are in compliance with Federal, State, and Local regulation requirements. Monitors environmental compliance issues and provides assistance with workplace safety matters. Performs and/or oversees environmental monitoring for emergencies, spills, unauthorized discharges, and other environmental problems.Responsible for delivering a comprehensive environmental training program and maintaining certification records. Supports operations that include, but are not limited to: accumulation and disposal of solid and hazardous waste as well as storage and shelf-life management of MSDS materials. Performs site assessments to identify and correct potential environmental, health and safety hazards and makes on-site corrections of potential risks in areas that are directly related to hazardous waste, materials, chemicals, and environmental concerns and conditions. Assists with enforcing the MSDS Program and conducts an annual internal environmental compliance assessment. Responsible for maintaining records of environmental activities for open inspection by the Government such as inventory lists, inspection logs, analytical results and monitoring data. Assists in maintaining adequate inventories of spill kits, absorbent materials, containers and other supplies as necessary to ensure the proper containment, packaging, labeling, handling, storage, and public transportation of hazardous materials and waste to include radioactive materials.


Serves as liaison for the company to the hoist installation in support of environmental control. Performs other duties as assigned.


Minimum Requirements



  • High School diploma or equivalent required




  • 8 hour HAZWOPER training and certification required




  • Must be knowledgeable of EPA rules and regulations and fire prevention methods.




  • Must have effective communication and interpersonal skills.




  • Must have a demonstrated ability to function and coordinate well in a multinational workforce environment.




  • Must have effective organization and planning skills.




  • Must have the ability to understand and follow instruction precisely.




  • Must have the ability to use test equipment, such as gas analyzers and dosimeters.




  • Must have the ability to develop and deliver HS&E training material for various personnel.




  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
