(AFG) Aviation Life Support Tech (ALSE) JM OCONUS
Inspects, troubleshoots, repairs, maintains and performs organizational and intermediate (O&I) maintenance level calendar inspections on aviator’s personal survival equipment and aircraft installed safety/survival equipment in accordance with applicable manuals, publications and instructions.
Performs major and minor repairs, modifications, maintenance and inspections to all Aviation Life Support Equipment (ALSE) in shop and flight line environments with minimal supervision using various types of diagnostic testers.
Develops procedures for, and conduct equipment inspection, fitting, adjustment and aircrew instruction in the survival, use, and care of life support equipment to include the helmet, and downed aircrew survival equipment.
Operates, maintains, troubleshoots, removes and replaces associated parts and components on a variety of systems, such as aircraft mounted and aircrew ALSE(survival equipment).
Prepares for and conduct life support and survival continuation training for assigned personnel.
Inspects maintain, and evaluate life support equipment and activities, to include receipt, handling and storage of life support equipment.
Maintains, conducts test and repair of AN/AVS-9 (Exelis F4949 Series) aviator goggles, and ensures appropriate NVG records are maintained.
Assists in shop safety as well as safety in the hangar and on the flight line.
Maintains cleanliness and general maintenance of the associated work area, as well as tools and equipment assigned.
Performs other qualified duties as required by Management.
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in appropriate discipline or equivalent education and experience
Must have the skills and knowledge required to effectively perform all ALSE tasks. Specific areas will include: safety, ALSE supply, logistics operations, maintenance, inspections, shop efficiency, and administration.
New hires for this career field must be a graduate of the prior Aircrew Life Support and/or Survival Equipment technical training courses (or equivalent), sister-service equivalent courses, or FAA certified equivalent background. Must have a minimum of two years experience in the aviation life support career field.
Minimum of two years Depot level Maintenance experience on AN/AVS-9 (Exelis F4949 Series) aviator goggles is required.
Possess a working knowledge of manuals and other applicable maintenance/technical manuals pertaining to equipment maintenance, repair, storage and serviceability, aircrew survival equipment and applicable explosive devices.
Demonstrate strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Excellent time management skills and ability to generate and support pragmatic solutions while maintaining high quality standards.
Strong analytical skills with high degree of detail orientation.
Additional Requirements:
Must be able to provide documentation and certification upon request.
Must be able to pass the required medical physical.
Must have supervisor approval for transfer if an applicant is employed by L3 Communications.
Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite software
Must be a US Citizenship
Must possess a valid State Driver’s License
Must have a valid US Passport
DOD Secret Clearance is required
