US Army Military Accessions Vital to the National Interest (MAVNI) - United States Army & Army Reserves - Plainfield, NJ
The MAVNI program allows the enlistment into the United States Army or Army Reserve of certain legal non-immigrant aliens with foreign language ability. Applicants that enlist under the MAVNI program have the opportunity for the naturalization process to be expedited (usually completed during basic combat training)
- Age: 17-34 (must Ship prior to 35th Birthday)
- Education: High School Senior or High School Diploma (Tier 1) Graduate or Higher.–Foreign Diplomas and Transcripts must be translated and evaluated.
- Trainability: 50 or higher on the ASVAB
- Physical: Must meet physical standards IAW AR 601-210. Medical waivers are authorized.
- Conduct: No conduct waivers authorized
- Dependents: Must meet standards IAW AR 601-210. Dependency waivers are authorized.
- Foreign Armed Forces: Must not be affiliated with any foreign armed forces. No exception is authorized.

- Citizenship: –Applicants must be an Asylee; a person who applied for, and was granted asylum in the United States. Refugee; a person who was admitted to the United States as a refugee. Or, Temporary Protected Status (TPS); a person who has been granted permission to remain in the United States for a specified period of time because of an emergency or conflict in their home Country.
–Applicants not in the above status must fall within one of the legal non-immigrant-visa categories listed(see below):
– Must have had legal status for at least the last 2 years with no single absence of more than 90 days from the U.S. during the two year period immediately preceding the date of enlistment.
