(AFG-KANDAHAR) Project Controls Manager
Job Summary
The Project Controls Manager is responsible for the planning, execution, and oversight of project controls activities for teams covering several sites.
Principal Accountabilities
- Perform the most difficult and complex aspects of project control activities and ensure project administration, change management, project estimating, cost management, and schedule management are executed in a timely fashion and in accordance with all company standards and contractual requirements
- Manage the development of scope, schedule, budget, and estimate to complete data for assigned tasks
- Lead in creation of Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and development of schedules and budget data (including resource loading) for those WBS elements
- Develop proposal input to address requirement change requests
- Support the Project Management team in maintaining timely and effective change management processes, procedures, and systems
- Communicate and present complex issues and solutions to program leadership
- May be lead position on assigned major projects outside the normal responsibilities of Project Controls
- Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge & Skills
- Ability to develop and maintain positive, cooperative, team-oriented relationships with co-workers, supervisors, managers, clients, and others in contact with the job
- Proficient in Microsoft Office software
- Working knowledge of earned value (cost performance index/schedule performance index) and baseline (change) management
- Competent at presenting cost/schedule data and analysis to managers in outside departments
- Management skill in applying business practices, plans, and activities for teams
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
Experience & Education
- Minimum eight (8) years of experience in business management or related field with at least four (4) years in planning, scheduling, and cost engineering in a project management environment
- Experience with Earned Value Management (EVM), cost reporting, and scheduling software with proficiency in at least one of these
- Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, project management, business, or associated discipline; may substitute two (2) additional years of experience in related field for each year of college
- Prefer certification from an accredited, related organization such as AACE, PMI, etc.
Physical Requirements/Working Environment
- Living and working conditions at assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable
- Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions
- Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions
Travel
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally
Must have ability to obtain and maintain US security clearance at proper level
