The position is on our Facilities Management/Infrastructure support contract. It is to provide support on Military Camps in
Afghanistan. The KBR Refrigeration Mechanic is responsible for operation, planned and reactive maintenance
activities on ventilation, refrigeration and air conditioning equipment in theatre. He reports to the Site Supervisor.
Core Responsibilities:
Responsible for ensuring application and compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974. Activity specific Risk Assessments and Method Statements.
Ensures delivery of assigned
tasks in strict accordance with the authorities requirements and specifications in a
timely manner.
Management of
KBR Works personnel and sub contractors, as directed ,in the performance of the assigned tasks.
Ensuring the appropriate QA/QC and technical documentation is applied to and enforced on the various assigned OWT tasks.
Acts as deputy to the OWT Supervisor/Manager during leave rotation or other absence as directed.
Duties:
Principal duties of the Ordered Works Team (TO) are:-
Providing guidance on codes of practice, BS EN standards and best practice.
Ensuring appropriate Safe systems of work are applied and enforced.
Supervise assigned sub contractors and
the LEC staff employed on Ordered Works tasks
Perform take offs and pricing of equipment and materials on assigned tasks.
Initiating ordering, correctly identification of materials to enable procurement via the Logistic & Procurement SRS system.
Assuming OWT representative/focal point as directed.
Qualifications:
Essential:
The Refrigeration Mechanic must be of a Technical status and have a minimum of 2 years relevant post qualification experience.
Technical – defined as holding NVQ level 3 Refrigeration and Air Conditioning or equivalent/higher qualifications in an appropriate discipline together with relevant experience.
Experience of working with all aspects of ventilation, refrigeration and air conditioning equipment.
Hold a current Refrigerant gas safe handling certification.
Proven ability of applying good environmental practices in tasks performed including the investigation of accidents and incidents, carrying out risk assessments and risk control and complying with
UK health and safety legislations.
Experience operating within a food handling environment.
2 years experience of managing small teams, up to 5, with low levels of oversight/assistance
A track record of producing written reports and recording time/materials for jobs
Preferred:
Experience of working on operations in austere remote sites or in developing nations
Ideally hold Defence Estates AP certificates in disciplines such as Confined Spaces , Compressed Gases and/or Pressure Vessels gained during work with a contractor providing services to the MOD under Defence Estates Prime Contracts.
