(AFG-JALALABAD) Communications & Electronics Technician


Job Summary


The Communications and Electronics (C&E;) Technician assists in maintenance and repair of electronics supporting air traffic control systems.


Principal Accountabilities


(Typical duties include the following, although specific duties vary by assignment or contract.)


  • Assist with installation and adjustment of air traffic control (ATC) communication and navigation aid systems

  • Maintain ATC communication systems and troubleshoot issues

  • Test, align, and adjust equipment; replace and repair faulty components

  • Maintain equipment maintenance records, authorized spare parts, supply stock, tool lists, and technical manuals

  • Perform comparison checks on repaired equipment in accordance with standards

  • Requisition materials and parts for ATC equipment

  • Perform 24-hour on call duties on a rotating basis

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge & Skills


  • Must speak and understand English in order to coordinate movement on ramp via two-way radio communications

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software

  • Must have ability to obtain and maintain US Secret security clearance

  • Additional knowledge/skills may be required by contract or assignment

Experience & Education


  • Minimum four (4) year of experience in electronics, communications, or similar field

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Prefer associate’s degree in electronics, communications technician, or associated discipline

  • Additional experience/education may be required by contract o assignment

Physical Requirements/Working Environment


  • Ability to lift at least fifty (50) pounds

  • Living and working conditions at assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable

  • Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions

  • Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions

Travel


  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally

Maintenance Technician: The Maintenance Technician shall have at a minimum of four (4) years of experience maintaining and repairing equipment similar to that used at their assigned site location. At least one (1) of those years shall include experience or demonstrated proficiency on the models used at the assigned sites. Comprehensive formal training on specific models can be substituted for one (1) year of experience. Completion of related formal technical training and or an associate’s degree in applied sciences is desired.
